Scale not moving advice please

Recommended Posts

Let me first say that I am happy with my weight loss. I was banded march 20, 2009 and have lost 34lbs so far. However, much of that weight loss was in the first 3 weeks of my surgery. I have not lost anything since. I keep going between the same 3lbs and it is driving me crazy. Can anyone give me some advice? Here is what I ate today

egg whites and 2 turkey sausage

South beach bar

4oz meat loaf 2oz cream spinach (Boston Market)

I exercise 3 times a week for 30min on an elliptical trainer.

I will say that I do struggle to get my Water in. I get about 40-45oz i am trying to increase this.

In addition, I wanted to know how many carbs should I be eating a day? Thanks

About how many calories are you consuming each day? It seems like you may not be consuming enough calories/protein each day. I regularly eat 1200-1500 each day. You may need to eat a tiny bit more (100-200 calories per day) to jump start your weight loss again.

I really don't keep track of my calories. My doctor said I should focus on Protein 60g. However, I don't really keep in track of that either. Sometimes I take Protein Shots. I guess I will have to start tracking my calories as well. Thanks for you advice.

I would try using dailyplate.com (or some other online journal) for a couple of weeks to track your food. It sounds like a lot of work but it really isnt and is it so worth it.

A lot of times what we think is "enough" or the "right choice" - isnt. And if you dont - how can you correct?

Hello All

I was banded on 4/13/09. I lost 10 pounds right away....now I am going up and down on the same three pounds. So frustrating I put the scale away and will only weigh once a week now.

I lost 25 before sugery so I am at a 35 pound weight loss now. But I sure am stuck.............

I am on liquids and thought maybe that is why I m losing so slowly. I know for sure I am not eating more than 800 calories a day.

Getting my Water in. Protien on liquids is hard because my doctor doesn't like Protein shakes.............adding powder to liquids ect.

I think your body sorta has to catch up with the weight loss sometimes and just levels out until it has the energy to start losing again........I don't know. I hope I start to lose again too........

I would increase your excercise to 60 minutes daily 6-7 days a week. That is my doctors expectation. I have been following it to a T. Not only do I feel great, but I've had some weight loss too (now I am still only 2.5 weeks post op) but the exercise is shrinking my waist!

I'm losing faster now that I'm eating more. Sounds crazy I know, but last time I went to the doc they told me to eat between 1000 and 1400 cal a day. It's working.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
