Calcium

Hi everyone. Having trouble chewing up those nasty calcium citrate wafers--just can't do it, so I bought some "petite" calcium citrate pills which are still HUGE. Any suggestions? Is there another alternative? If they made a "gummy" calcium, I would loooovve it.

I don't know how far you are out from surgery, but at the 2-week point I was able to go back to regular calcium and vitamins, not chewable (as long as I had no difficulty swallowing them). Again, I don't know how far out you are, but talk with your doctor's office if you are struggling with the chewables. I thought I would be on those forever, was surprised I could resume the regular ones, but happy I could as I didn't care for the chewables!

They do make gummy calcium chewables - they are the consistency of orange slices - I bought them at Target and can't remember the brand name - I will look when I get home, but my kids even like to eat them!!!!!

I was having the same problems that you are. I knew I was supposed to be having calcium citrate and not calcium carbonate, and all of the good, easy to get down calcium that I could find were always carbonate. I tried the wafers and the petites too and those didn't work. I finally found some cinnamon lozenges on BariatricChoice.com. They are not too expensive and I don't have to swallow them. They are called Bariatric Advantage Calcium and they are $19.95 for 90. I won't say they are a yummy treat, but I can suck on them and they stay down.... even in the morning. They do come in other flavors as well. Good luck to you!! Becky

like parrotheadcathy says, they are delicous i had those giant calcium bottle horse pill so the dietian recomended viactiv chews they also comes in rasberry.but i love carmel.

My drs office suggested a new Sugar free Calcium Citrate choco flavored with D3 a250 mg calcuim. They are available on line at Bariatricadvantage.com. They are now takein advance orders on the lemon flavored. I like the Chocoloate just fine 60 chew per bag 15 cal the bag says they contain soy. Anyway you can get details online..

i have to agree with missbs.... Bariatric Advantage Calcium chews in chocolate r delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!! i couldnt believe i was eating something good 4 me...my mom sneaks and eats them...lol...

I have had trouble with the Calcium Citrate Petites after my 3rd fill - and they caused my first slime! So, back to Viactive, but my Nutritionist says they don't give enough long term (esp. Vitamin D) for those of us in northern, not-sunny climes. I'd like any chewable, tasty alternative but LOVE the Viactiv, perfect treat 3 times a day.

Caltrate chewables are good. They come in vanilla, strawberry or chocolate. They are almsot like a chewy candy.. i have to stop my 6 yr old from eating them.
