I decided im ready

hi my name is stacey, i have been stuggling with my weight for over 10yrs now with no luck. I have done everything i can to lose it but i guess it just likes me. Ive done alot of research and am ready to go to my dr and find out what the next step is to get the lapband surgury. Alittle about me back in 2005 i was diagnoised with cancer and went throught alot to get cured. I have been cancer free now for 3yrs. I was told i would never have kids cause of the chemo and now i have a 20month old daughter who i love so much. After those to life changing events i realized that im tired of feeling horrible about myself and my obesity is only getting worst making me more physically sick. Im almost diabetic, my legs hurt all the time, and it sucks not being able to keep up with my daughter. Im ready for a change in my life and im glad i found this site with others that i can talk to and learn more about what lies ahead of me.

Hi! Welcome to the lapbandtalk forum! This forum will really help you become acquainted with the pros and cons of lapband. I myself have not had the band yet, but I have my surgery consult appt scheduled for next week and have been doing alot of research on this subject. It's a really big decision, so take your time and find out all that you can about it. Some of the surgeon's offices offer seminars, I would recommend that.

Congratulations on being cancer-free and for beating the odds with your beautiful daughter! You deserve to take care of yourself now and be the person you want to be! Your story is very inspirational! Just remember that the lapband is not a magic wand and it is only a tool. You still have to be committed to a new lifestyle of eating good and exericising, the band only helps reinforce those good habits! I wish you so much luck!!

P.S. I am a fellow Libra! : )))

Welcome to you! This is such a wonderful site I agree! It has helped me before and after my surgery, I don't know what I wouldn't have done without it. Good luck to you!
