fun thread -- names

The morning radio show I listen to in the mornings had an interesting topic yesterday. They were talking about last names, and if anyone does what their name says. You know, if anyone named Baker was a baker or things like that.

I thought that would make a fun topic here, so here goes.

My last name is Webb, and I spin as one of my many hobbies. Spin as in spinning wool, not the bike thing. Also, I work with the internet and networks, so that cracks me up too.

My younger sister changed her name when she got married, so she went from being a Webb to an Earl (some people pronounce URL as Earl)...

The CO of my ex-H's Navy Squadron was named Cosmos. Yup, Captian Cosmos. that is one of my all time favorite name.s

My maiden name is Rust you would think a simple name like that would not cause problems.....People were always trying to make it fancy by putting accents on it and spelling it differeltly. I always said :it's just good ole Iron oxied, corrosion, the brow/reddish junk on a piece of metal that is left out in the rain.

The probles was my brothers, he has strawberry colored hair and was teased that his name bled through to his hair...

Now my name is Mierow (pronounced like zero with a M insted of a Z) Not much to go no with that one...

How did I miss this thread last month???

My maiden name is Wilson. Not a lot you can do with that one. But I was always teased from BOYS :) about my first name Terri. I was always called TERRIBLE TERRI! Because of the spelling. But my Grandma use to say I was TERRIFIC TERRI!

There was that serial rapist who's last name was 'Luster'

My BIL is a cop and his last name is Bacon :D

I went to school with a girl called Lee Ping Choo - she got called 'Jumping Train' :)

My DH's sister is Kim Louise and my real name is 'Kim Louise' and we were both named after Kim Novak, my Dad used to call me Bloss (as in Blossom) and my MIL is known as Bloss because her Dad always called her that, and my Grandpa is Geoffrey Samuel and my nephew (on DH's side) is Samuel Geoffrey. DH figure we were ment to be together :(

My maiden name is Haugh. Pronounced (Haw). You can imagine the different pronounciations teachers, employers, peers and other people come up with. (Hag, Hog, Hugh, Hoe!) I think Hog was the worst because of our family being obese. I remember one Christmas a so called friend gave me hog(pig) ornaments for my CHristmas tree as a junk. That wasn't so bad, but when she made the comment "Well you and your sis are the "Hog" sister!" OH was I ever mad! Needless to say I lost all respect for her that day.

Yeah, But Since I'm Not In School Anymore, I Don't Get It A Lot. My Ex Sister -in-law Was Kristin Carroll. In Know She Got It Because I'm The One Who Called Her That. :D It Sure Does Beat Stinky Cheese, Though! Haha

My Maiden name is Liotard (French/Italian) pronounced like "Lie o tard" however everyone pronounces it Leotard....My first name is Hope.... I would get "Leotard reotard...Nice one huh? Hopes a dope, Hope does Dope, and various other Hope jokes. Everyone always asks what is it short for...Its short for nothing, its just HOPE... Now my married name is Thorpe. Yep, if you say it quick enough my first and last names rhyme..Hope Thorpe..(Gotta slur the R a little in the last name...)

My mother is part Indian, Cherokee and the Cherokee people usually have last names of their occupations (from what I understand) Her last name is Skinner....YIKES!!!

My maiden name is Mc Nally & my married name is Mc Coy. Big switch huh? LOL! I had a guy in high school believe that my uncle was Rand Mc Nally. And if someone asks me if I am the real Mc Coy again I think I will scream! LOL! I worked in a doc's office when i was a teenager & there was a pt. named O.B. Massengill - no lie! The office staff drew straws over who would call him back. It was sad. LOL!

This is a great idea and so much fun.

My maiden name is german - Heise - pronounced Hi-C - you know I was teased as a kid

Then my married name was - Spiller - so I became a Hi-C Spiller!! Too funny as I do happen to be in the top ten of clumsy.

Thanks Vines, I love reading all of your responses. You are super!!!

One of the contracts I had a guy named Richard Tickle. He requested his account name be changed to Dick...

But one of the NBC correstpondents is named Mr. Tibbles..... Mr Tibbles is the perfect name for a cat not a war correspondent!!!

I once worked with a woman who's last name is Dick, that alone is pretty bad but her name is Benita and then they named their daughter Anita. Those are parents who are mean!!

Hey Queenie,Isn't Dick Trickle a pro golfer?
