ticare approval

I got my tricare approval today!! I have a surgery date of 11 August. That is so just around the corner. I had heard that it went fast with tricare after they gave the go ahead, and they were right. I only have 1 day of pre-op diet (liquid). The lady at the surgeons office said there was a group of us that came in at the same time, so hopefully I will b meeting someone locally soon to talk to about all the lapband stuff. Well better run just wanted to chime in and say I'm one stap closer. :biggrin2:

Maggies its usually only a couple days. You can go online to check the status too. Also a person from Tricare usually gives you a call too. Keep us posted!!

I WAS WONDERING. DOES TRICARE PAY FOR THE WHOLE PROCEDURE? I JUST GOT QUALIFIED AND NOW HAVE TO MEET WITH THE DR. ON FRIDAY. I HAVE TO SEE A PSYCOLOGIST JUST TO MAKE SURE I KNOW OF ALL OF THE RISK AND MY LIFE STYLE AFTER. I HOPE TO GET THE PROCEDURE BEFORE MY HUSBAND DEPLOYS. IF ANYONE CAN, CAN YOU PLEASE GET BACK TO ME. THANKS:thumbup:

I have Tricare Prime, and I had my surgery done at a civilian hospital, and all I had to pay was $25 for a hospital stay co-pay.

Meggers,

Tricare paid for all of mine, I didn't even have a co-pay. Approval happened very quickly...I was shocked how fast it all went.

My husband was deployed when I had to do all the foot work...appointments and all and then he came home just in time for my surgery. He was home for 3 weeks and has deployed again. I can't wait for him to see the new me when he gets back home!

Robin

I have Tricare Prime (active duty) and do not have to pay anything. Tricare Prime retirees have co-pays.

I have active duty too, and I still had that one co-pay. I also had to pay that same amount when I had my daughter almost five years ago (I used a civilian hospital then too).

Technically, you shouldn't have a copay TRICARE Cost Share . I am having this done in a civilian hospital, had my daughter in a civilian hospital and another procedure and have never had a copay.

Strange...

hello everyone im nervous i see the bariatric surgeon tomarrow in austin at 8 in the morning hope fully i will get approved. pleases everyone keep me in your prayers tonight so i may get approved..

:frown::scared2::lol::unsure:

my husband retired the end of May, so I was suddenly on Tricare Standard. I was a little concerned, but it doesn't look like it will be that bad.

My hospital bill was $304. That INCLUDES my $150 deductable, since this is literally the first thing we've had done under Standard. I expect my surgeon's fee to be between $150 and $200, and then there will be the anesthestist, too.

This is at a Tricare contract provider for both hospital and surgeon, or it would be more than that.

I was banded Tuesday, July 22.

Depends on whether or not you are Tricare Prime, or Prime Remote. Remote means you are outside the service area of a military facility, so the cost is covered. If you could go to a military hospital and went to a civilian, you would have that expense

Hello,

I'm in Wiesbaden. Sorry I fell off the map here. I wasn't going to do the band but have changed my mind. I turned in my request for approval on Thurs. How long did it take for tricare to approve you and get you in to see Prof. Weiner? I'm hoping before labor day. How long was your liquid diet?

Thanks for any help.

meekie, took about 2 hrs for tri care to approve the consult with dr. weiner. then it took 7 days to approve for actual surgery. he has you stay on a 3 week liquid diet. But be prepared cause i just went yesterday for my month check up and they said that because i lost 21 lbs they will not do an adjust ment and set my next appt at 3 mth check up on sept. 22 If i think i need a fill before then though im sooooo calling them back to beg. Also, i usually have to wait like and hour after myu appt. time to see him, its kinda crazy but still worth it.

Martinez75, Did you get approved? Hope so.............

I got my date to see Dr. Weiner. It is 11 Aug at 3:00. That is also my son's birthday. I will be doubly happy to get a surgery date that day as well!! What should I expect? Wish me much success!

meekie,

expect to wait awhile after you appt. time LOL...Also because we are american he will ask if you are sure about lapband, because we have so many soft foods that can slip thru the band. Just be firm and tell him lapband is your only choice. He will respect that. He then had me lay down and looked at my gal bladder and liver and kidneys with ultrasound. I was in and out of his office with a surgery appt. within 12 min. Easy peasy...Good luck
