Feeling HUNGRY today (5 days post op)

Hi eveyone- Long time lurker (10 months) First time poster. I am hungry for the first time since being banded. I just started today with non-Clear liquids. I had a little sugar free pudding and 1/2 cup egg drop Soup. I am feeling scared about trying other things.

How did you make it through this liquid stage?

TIA.

Protein shakes.... try to get 60 grams of protein it will take the edge of your hunger....

100% whey unflavored with 8-10 ounces of warm Water and a tsp of better then boulion chicken base... very good....21 grams of protein there

Isopure clear has 40 grams of protein in the bottle

Keep the protein up and water intake too.....

GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the reply, Stay Tuned. I bought protein powder today and am going to go ahead and try some of the shakes that the nutritionist recommended.

Don't worry, I just started full liquids too yesterday and I've been feeling slightly hungry since about 3 day. Mostly in the evening or middle of the night though. So I started drinking my protien shake before bed and I felt better.

i am 8 days post op, and i too am feeling more and more hungary eeryday!! Cant wait to be off the liquids! ONE MORE WEEK! YAY!!

We all need to just STICK TO THIS, and hang in there!! Its mind over matter!! We can do this!!

Good Luck to all of you!

I totally agree with all of ya'll---I'm ok until DH starts making wonderful dinners for the kids, they smell sooo good. My doctor has me on shakes only--I've read others that are eating cream of wheat, etc. My surgery was June 3rd-- the diet started a few days before the surgery so I haven't had a bite of ANYTHING for over 10 days and still have a week to go. The only thing I have had are protein drinks--can someone suggest some other things that I am supposed to be able to consume right now? Thanks!

My DH made me a banana smoothie this morning. The nutritionist gave me the recipe. It was very filling.

1 frozen banana

1 c skim or 1% milk

4 ice cubes

1 scoop Protein powder

For dinner, I am going to have him make me another one...same as above but a packet of sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast in place of the banana. Yes, I could make these myself but I always think things taste better when someone else makes them.

Today is my first day back at work and my co-worker friend brought me egg drop soup for lunch.

I am excited to just have a regular meal... grilled chicken, green Beans, a sppon of mashed potatoes... Soon!

Hang in there everyone!

I am loving the sugar-free carnation instant breakfast. I mix it with some lactaid milk and a few ice cubes in my brand-new Magic Bullet. Yummy breakfast!

I am also crazy about the bottled Isopure drinks. I tell myself it's Gatorade and tastes great to me

I can't believe you like the Isopure drinks, three sixty six, good for you, I hated them... As for being hungry after surgery, I woke up hungry, no kidding!!! I breezed through the creamy stage though, I can eat my weight in yogurt and pudding. I subsided on yogurt, pudding, protein shakes and tomato soup.
