  1. I have suffered with IBS my whole life...I was banded June 3, 2008 and my IBS switched from mostly loose and explosive to constipation....remember, drink, drink, drink, and use stool softners---you'll be fine, its the best decision I've ever made...I was down 33 lbs. at my 6 week check up and feel better than i have in years!

    Hi from Virginia!

Welcome ChefMeg! I too am from VA--banded 6/3/08, 1 month on the dot today. I have lost a bit over 30 lbs. in that month. I am wearing a skort today that I haven't worn in 2 years. I haven't been the least bit sick, and I can truly say that I haven't really been hungry after the 1st week of adjusting -- my real problem is that I am forgetting to eat and have not been getting enough calories. I haven't even gone in for my first fill yet -- I would recommend the lap band in a minute...life is getting easier every day. Good luck with your research and your decision--I wish for you the exact same experience I have had. Welcome to the site!

    recently banded

Hey! I was banded on June 3rd as well. I was cleared to start exercising this past Tuesday. I have to admit that I haven't done very much--just taking brisk walks at night to start off with. I'm going to start working out in my office gym next week (I return to work on Monday). I lost 7 lbs. pre-op and 15 pounds post-op so far. I feel like I could eat anything I want to right now, but I am doing my best to limit my portion sizes. I'm not eating anything near what I used to eat. I'm taking 4-5 bites of whatever I fix the family for dinner, and although I could eat much more, I am walking away and once the food is out of sight I don't have any hunger or cravings. I'm determined to make this work--I consider it my last option. I don't want to be thin--just healthy...my one year goal is actually quite simple, I just want my weight to start with a 1. I just want to play with my kids and not be the "fat mom". Anyway, I just wanted to reply since we had the same surgery day--I seem to be at a weight loss stand still for the last 4-5 days--I know I shouldn't weigh everyday....but who am I kidding, I get on the scale EVERY time I walk in the bathroom! Good luck everyone!
  4. I totally agree with all of ya'll---I'm ok until DH starts making wonderful dinners for the kids, they smell sooo good. My doctor has me on shakes only--I've read others that are eating cream of wheat, etc. My surgery was June 3rd-- the diet started a few days before the surgery so I haven't had a bite of ANYTHING for over 10 days and still have a week to go. The only thing I have had are protein drinks--can someone suggest some other things that I am supposed to be able to consume right now? Thanks!

    Anyone a Nurse?

Hey Eeyore! I was banded the same day...from my research you and I are at the perfect time period to be experiencing some of the symptoms you are having if you haven't been getting in enough water. Believe me, I know its hard, but increase your fluid intake Keep me posted on how you're doing!
  6. Hi all -- I'm brand new, just registered today--got banded on June 3, 2008 so still recovering. I work for Verizon and have a very supportive husband and 3 great kids (12,11,6). I have to admit, I had more pain than I expected but today has been MUCH better. Started at 308lbs and today's weigh in put me at 295...its a start. I'm already sick of the protein drinks, hubby made a big dinner with all the trimmings for the kids tonight that smelled wonderful (I guess that shows that I am feeling better) and then I had to make cookies for my daughters team party...realizing that life hasn't changed in the un-banded world and its hitting me that this is not going to be an easy road. I'm looking for any support I can get, and I'd like to be a part of Jazzy Junes 2008 if I may. Good luck everyone!
