That seems like the impossible dream!

Recommended Posts

I know that title of the forum seems an impossible dream. I don't have a lot more than 200 to lose but my original personal goal was to lose 201 pounds.

My original start weight was 400. I wanted to get under 200 pounds so I picked the easiest number to get to.

In further research and talking with my regular Dr. I think my real target is going to be between 180 - 190. She said I should target 190-210. To get to a normal BMI I have to make 175. I am not sure with my body fat % I can get that low but we shall see.

For now we are baby stepping to 150 pound loss. Once I get there I will no longer qualify for surgery for BMI anyway. Full steam ahead!

Yes, it seems like that to me too, but I have seen so much success on this and other boards that maybe it will be possible. I have lost 52 lbs in 3 mo. so why not? I didn't start out to want a BMI of 25, but now I think maybe I will get that far. Connie

My starting BMI was 55.8 so a BMI of 25 seemed completely unrealistic; however, now my BMI is 38.4. 25 still seems a long way away, but not quite as far as before.

I started with the goal of going from almost 350 to under 225, because that's the weight my orthopedist said I needed to be for him to perform knee replacements on me.

But seeing all the success here makes me want to reach higher, or um, lower, and try to reach get out of the obese range all together and into the overweight or normal BMI ranges. For me at 5'3" that would mean <170 and <141 respectively. I was around both those weights for at least a couple years and would be very happy to meet either goal.

But honestly, I'd be thrilled to be under 225. I've noticed a difference in my energy level and a decrease in my knee and hip pain with just the amount I've lost so far, so I'm looking forward happily to more improvement.

My highest was 384. I want to get to 177 (personal goal). According to the charts I should strive for 150. Either way, by their charts or my goal, it will be over 200 lbs to lose.

I try not to think about it in that way or it seems too overwhelming. I have already lost some pre-op and I now only (only.. ha ha) need to lose 191 to get to my goal.

We can do this guys! :P

I started at 165kg (363pds)at Nov 1 and my specialist wants me to get to 99kg (218pds) so that is my first major goal. I would like to get to 65kg (143pds). This would be the higher side of normal for me but it was the weight I was when my DH and I first started dating. I am setting smaller goals the first being to reach 130 kg (286pds) by the beginning of June as DH and I will be going away for a few days and it would be nice to have lost a few pds before getting on the plane.

I am then sort of staggering my goals, 130kg (286), then 115kg (253) and then 99kg (218). When I reach 99kg I am going to go tandem sky diving to Celebrate - they have a weight limit of 100kg max, so I think this will be a great way to Celebrate.

I have now reached 152.4 kg (335) and today I got my first fill, so hopefully the weight will now start to drop off.

Sorry to waffle on so much.

Danna

i started at 402.5 and so far have lost about 135 pounds. i still have about 70ish to go.

the first several were not too difficult, the band and liquid diet took care of it. after i hit about 75 though, S L O W ... you can do it though.

for me the first 80 came off pretty quickly. After that it definitely slows down. I have noticed that my body has put the weight loss on hold while it is "shifting" things around. I notice that my clothes are fitting differently even though the scale isn't moving. I am ok with it. If this had happened to me a lot earlier I would have been horribly frustrated.

I am a little disappointed as I had hoped to make 150 pound loss by my bandiversarry at the end of Feb. It could still happen as I have had months in the 20 pound loss. But right now I am thrilled with the progress this far.

Hi Everyone, I'm just starting. I get banded on January 17! My weight before the preop diet was 376, now I'm down 11 lbs since I started the pre-op sugar busters diet. I would like to lose down to 170 or so.. A long road ahead but I'm READY! It is wonderful to know that I am not alone.

Hey guys - I love the idea of this forum! I know it's not easy for ANY of us to lose weight, but I do like being able to find the folks in the same sized boat as me!

I was at 372 prior to my pre-op diet, surgery was on 12/17, and I've been holding in the 20 to 22 lb loss mark for well over a week which I consider pretty good considering I don't feel any restriction yet! I have my post op visit tomorrow (delayed due to the holidays) and he'll let me know when I can come back for a fill - scared AND looking forward to it.

200 lbs seems so far away....but one day! Maybe even before I know it!

Best of luck to all!

Tina

Add me to the 200+ list, as well. I can't wait to say only 100 more to go!

I guess I need to be here too. I was 350 this summer and 333 on the day of surgery. I still have a lot to go.

Please add me to the 200+ list. I started out at 397 and now weigh 295. My goal is to weigh 150 pounds. So my total weight loss should be about 247 pounds! Now that I have put that in writing it sounds impossible but I have dropped 102 lbs. since August 27, 2007 so I hope to continue on this downward spiral. My surgeon wants me to really try and focus on exercise now which is going to be the real test of my strength because I hate it so much. Well maybe the loose skin will be my motivation. Thanks,

shelli:eek:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
