Cramps!!!

Getting really bad cramps! I supplement with magnesium and have also developed mild heart block which worsens if I don’t supplement. I’m wondering if anyone has similar issues and how they manage them…

have ordered a magnesium cream which I hope will help.

  • Oh I haven't thought about nocturnal leg cramps for ages! I used to have them *all the time* pre sleeve but almost never get them these days (and never anything like as badly). Another benefit of WLS

Leg cramps are awful. So painful. I used to get them randomly at night. Keep your fluids up so make sure you’re meeting or close to your daily fluid goals. It can be easy to let it slide especially in winter. Add an electrolyte drink to get in the minerals you may be missing at the moment. Try adding a banana to your food intake too. Gentle stretching & heating pads can help.

Hope this helps.

My husband swears by a banana, lots of fluids and a glass of Tonic water every day. It works for him. BTW the tonic water needs to have quinine in it

That sounds really uncomfortable. Magnesium can definitely help with cramps, especially if your body doesn’t absorb it well through supplements alone. Using a magnesium cream is a smart move since it can be absorbed through the skin and sometimes works faster. Make sure you’re also staying hydrated and keeping your electrolytes balanced. If the cramps or heart block get worse, definitely check in with your doctor to review your magnesium levels and medication mix.
