Starbucks Coffee or Latte's

Recommended Posts

I love Venti Iced White Mocha Latte's from Starbucks. However I know after surgery any coffee or latte intake will have to be sugar free, Low-fat, & decaf

Can anyone please tell me the best way I can still get my Iced White Mocha Latte but tweaked

So I looked up the ingredients and it says Espresso, milk, and white chocolate flavored sauce poured over ice.

To make it at home, you can use espresso or coffee, skim milk, or something like almond or soy milk. It looks like DaVince and Torani both make sugar-free white chocolate sauces and Skinny Mixes makes sugar-free white chocolate Syrup.

In-store, you will have to ask if they have sugar-free white chocolate sauce (this could vary by location) if so and you want cow milk ask for a skinny sugar-free iced white mocha Decaf, otherwise just say you want a decaf, iced mocha with sugar-free white chocolate and almond or soy milk (whichever you prefer)

Did your surgeon say you can no longer have caffeine after surgery? Most people usually still can, although it is wise to be mindful if you have high blood pressure.

The only sugar-free Syrup product Starbuck has is the vanilla. They have several herbal teas that are nice. I enjoy the peach tranquility. I have also started drinking caffeine and also enjoy an iced green tea. I wish they'd offer more sugar-free options. It's hard not falling back into the coffeehouse coffee habit.

https://www.amazon.com/Torani-Sugar-White-Chocolate-64-Ounce/dp/B000IEXK6E

This is my favorite sub for white chocolate. I find the sauce to be a much superior sub than the Syrup when it comes to coffees. ;) What I like to do is order a skinny iced or hot plain latte then when I get home, add the sauce to it. Then it's literally the same thing only sugar free.

Starbucks used to have sugar free raspberry... Apparently its difficult to find now. I can't wait until I can go back to caffeinated coffee! How far post op were you before you tried caffeine again?

I don't know how many Starbucks there are where you live, but have you asked about sugar-free options at other locations? Because where I live (a very very small town, with 4 Starbucks, and 3 more in the town less than a mile away) They have all sorts of sugar-free options, I get sugar-free Irish cream Syrup, but one location where I live does not offer it. I know for sure one location has sugar-free white chocolate sauce.

I live in Denver, and we have a Starbucks on nearly every corner, and none of them offer any sugar free options except vanilla. I love Jordan's Skinny syrups. They have white chocolate mocha Syrup that's no calories, no sugar, no carbs and it's AMAZING. I love all their flavors.

I was told no caffeine because it dehydrates you, and we have to be very mindful of our hydration. Especially if we deal with Constipation. But if I find I REALLY need the pick-me-up, I get it from tea or from Arbonne natural caffeine energy powders (absolutely LOVE them).

I started drinking caffeine again around 2 months...once I established good eating and drinking routines (making Protein and Fluid goals). I spoke with my nutritionist about it and he said not to count the caffeine beverages towards my overall fluid goal.

Luckily for a lot of ppl coffee is a laxative! 😖 but yes, it is a dehydrate as well. I look at it this way...I've given up every other food/drink I like...I think coffee ican be one small guilty pleasure, plus it can be good for you too - or at least for those ppl around me....

This is wild to me, I was just in Denver, but I only had a tea a Starbucks. I do live in Corporate's home state so maybe that is why we have more options. Their website does say they have sugar-free white chocolate sauce, which is what OP needs if they want the modified drink to have the same consistency. I did notice the menu of the Starbucks in Denver I was at was very limited, they only had two tea options. Oh and when I say very, very small town I mean 7,000 ppl.

I would seek out an independent coffee shop over Starbucks; a lot of the little mom and pop coffee places near me have a much better selection of sugar free syrups and toppings. One thing about the Torani white chocolate Syrup vs the Starbucks one is there is a pretty big difference in texture between the two; what Starbucks uses is a thick, viscous syrup that's almost the consistence of a sundae syrup or honey. The Torani product is clear in color and has a consistency similar to Water. It tastes really good, but it may make your drink feel like it has less "body", and I have a trick for that. Put a scoop of collagen in your coffee. You won't really be able to taste it but it will give it a richer mouthfeel and you'll get a nice skin-enhancing boost from it for 40 calories, much less than adding that thick Starbucks syrup.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
