Food

Recommended Posts

I am about 6 weeks post op, and am feeling really frustrated. I can only eat about 2 or 3 bites of anything before I feel like I am going to throw up. I just introduced real food about a week ago and since then have lost no weight. Anyone experience this also.

the no weight loss since last week is almost certainly a stall. They're completely normal. They usually last 1-3 weeks, and you're likely to hit several of them on your weight loss journey. Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days. They'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again.

the nausea part - I'd let your clinic know that...if nothing else, for peace of mind.

Just stick with it. Eat what you can and try again in a couple hours to get in what you need for nutrition reasons. This gets better, it really does.

Hi,

For the first 8 weeks my doctors have only 2-4 teaspoons of food for each meal. And only 3 meals per day. After that it is 1/4 cup per meal 3xs a day.

My doctors also advise to take Miralax to make sure I don’t get constipated. My friend hit a stahl and turned out it was gas and Constipation.

I was advised to eat only a 1/4 - 1/3 cup depending on the food from purée increasing as I was able. It was months & months before I was eating a cup. Make sure you’re eating slowly & what you’re eating isn’t too dry (keep it sloppy or very moist) or coarse. Also take small bites almost nibbles & see how you go.

It does get better.

I bought toddler silverware when I was first post op. It made meals seem easier and I was able to spend more time enjoying it over just a couple of bigger bites.

And I agree it’s likely a stall. Just keep going and it’ll get easier as time goes on.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
