Have you tried herbal tea instead?

We’re you told to avoid citric acid or something. I use the crystal light drink mixes but if I had to guess they contain citric acid. I haven’t looked.

I was. They didn't tell me why and it's litteraly in just my Water mixs. I tried the twinning ones but can't do it. Makes me sick. I may ask my doctor cause he had it done too

acidic things can be hard on stomachs. I still to this day (over seven years out) occasionally have trouble with tomatoes and some fruits - also, certain beverages that are acidic. And acidic coffee - UGH! So I understand!! Crystal Light never bothered me, though. Not sure what to tell you. Sorry you're having to deal with this!

Could you try to flavor the Water with fruit or veggies?

Like Lemons? Cucumbers? You don't get much of the sugar from the fruit because you only use a little bit and it just gives it the slightest hint of the flavor. Very mild.

Basically just fill up a pitcher and add some fruit or veggie and let it sit. (infuse)

Have you tried plain green tea? I did a quick google search for drinks without citric acid and it says many of the flavored ones contain it but the plain one does not. I personally would ask the surgeon if you can try it and see if you can tolorate it though. Or if they have more suggestions. I’m sure you won’t be the first one that’s having a hard time finding things that don’t contain it.

Green tea still has caffeine, so might not be a good choice either. I drink herbal teas (both hot and iced), for this reason.

Ooh I was allowed caffeine. I didn’t think about that. Have to ask your team.

On Amazon they have a great herbal loose leaf tea called cherry goddess. It's so very good if you really like cherry. I got me one of those ice tea mugs that are for loose leaf tea. It keeps the tea separate from the liquid. Makes wonderful tea. No caffeine.

I was allowed green tea as the caffeine is about a quarter that of black tea & even less of coffee (depending on how you take your coffee). Made me very happy as I only drank green tea anyway. I could have a cup a day (I had about double that 😉.)

Best to check with your surgeon & ask your dietician for non citric acid drink recommendations.

My hydration is made possible by great value fruit punch drink enhancer (generic crystal lite). I don't know what I'd do without it. It's never seemed acidic to me. Maybe different flavors will effect you differently?

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
