Was anyone sent home with binder post op? Or did anyone start wearing shape wear post op

A binder is sufficient for after wls, it's only there to provide comfort with moving mostly. Shapewear is used after skin removal surgery.

I got sent home with a velcro binder that really helped with the soreness after my surgery. I wore it for about 2 weeks. I bought a post partum binder recently since I've lost 100 lbs and my stomach is full of lumpy saggy skin. It might be a little too small because it squishes my loose skin upwards giving me back rolls so I'm not sure it's the best one. It's also super short and I have a very long torso so I need to keep looking. This is what it looks like.

If anyone has found any good shape wear for stomach loose skin, I'd love to know too!

I wasn’t. Personally I couldn’t stand any pressure across my abdomen & had to roll my waist bands down low so wouldn’t have be able to wear one anyway. I think it’s an individual recommendation from the surgeon or something a patient chooses as it feels more comfortable to wear a binder post surgery. It would be helpful if you carry a lot of your weight in your abdomen (We carry it differently - I was an equal opportunity carrier - hips, thighs, butt, breasts, … ?) or had a longer surgery to repair other issues like a hernia as well. Certainly, getting up & down can put strain on your healing tummy, incisions & stretched tummy muscles which the binder will support.

I've worn this style for quite a while. I'm short but this may work for you because you can adjust the shoulder straps to make it fit your specific needs.

I have a burning sensation on my lower right abdomen. I’m 21 days post op. If I kinda splint it it doesn’t seem to be as uncomfortable. Do I need to consider an abdominal binder or will it pass?

I woke up from surgery with a binder in. I’ve been wearing it most days helps with the pulling at the incision where my stomach was taken out.

Thank you for this comment I have one incision that has been a complete pain I’m 7 days post op but I’m guessing it’s normal

I had sleeve but I woke up from surgery with a binder on as well. I was told it was just for my comfort and I could remove it or put it back on as I desired. I took it off when I was allowed to shower and I didn’t really notice any difference so I just left it off.
