I have donated quite a bit and donated about 1 month before surgery. I asked my surgeon on his recommendation on when I can donate again and he stated he wanted to have me wait about 1 year. Right
(I haven't had surgery yet) I have been donating platelets when my hemoglobin levels are high enough, and I'm taking iron supplements to allow me to do this more frequently, like every month or so. Can you donate platelets after surgery? If so, how long do you have to wait and do you have to take extra iron (yes, I know it will make me more constipated). I can reach out to the surgeon too, but it doesn't feel very urgent.
