Has anyone experienced nausea during the worst part of your period? I have always had “bad” periods with at least one day of severe cramps, but since I have had surgery it is now accompanied by waves of nausea. Not unlike pregnancy nausea (nope, not pregnant). I am going on my 3rd cycle since surgery and not looking forward to it at all.

As you lose weight, oestrogen which has been stored in your fat is released into your blood stream. This hormonal flush can exacerbate any of the symptoms you experienced with your periods like making your periods heavier, more painful or more frequent. For you it’s possible this means you become nauseous. (Hormones are a b##ch.) If this is the cause, it will eventually pass.

Always best to give your medical team a call especially if you’re concerned, it’s debilitating, persists or restricting your life.

I haven't had periods in years because I have been on continuous oral contraceptives, but when I got periods in high school I got nausea, vomiting, migraines, diarrhea, etc. I will have to stop the pill prior to surgery to prevent blood clots and I'm not looking forward to getting my period again.
