  • Popular Post

Goaaaaaal!

I set out last July to lose 100 lbs. and I picked a random date at the end of May to get there. Today, May 25th, I'm down 100 lbs. and am lighter than I have been since college (30+ years ago).

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I logged in to this forum. My journey started about three years ago. It has many ups and downs. Started at 284 and I got as low as 183. Over the past two years, I got lazy and stopped following my program which ballooned up to 230. So it's time to get serious and get back to what I'm supposed to do. I really don't want to lose all the progress I made.

Some of the bad habits I need to kick- eating junk food, especially late at night. Also eating too many "slider" foods that are easy to go down, which happen to be ice cream, chips, crackers... all the stuff that I don't need. I still walk 4-5 miles a day but have skipped a few more days than I should.

I decided to log back in here for accountability and to remind myself how far I have come. Last week, I started counting the calories of everything I'm eating and trying to keep it under 1300 calories a day. I have gone from 230 to 218 in a week. My goal was always 200 lbs, so that's where I want to get to. I have my 3-year checkup with my bariatric surgeon on 9/21, and I hope to get to my goal by then.

I appreciate any advice or encouragement here. And I will try to go back and catch up on all of the wonderful stories I have missed over the past year.

update: I got serious about following the program again about a month ago. I've gone from 230 to 210, so I'm happy with the progress. I feel better and am not far away from my goal of 200. I'm a volunteer fireman and it was kind of embarrassing a few months ago to have to ask for bigger pants. I put them on on Monday and I had tons of room, which was nice.

Great job!! I'm sure you will make your goal by your follow up! Way to go back at it, making progress must feel really good. Keep going!!!

I suppose it is time for an update, since I started this journey about 5 years ago. I started at 284, had VSG, got as low as 183, and over the next few years, gradually put back on a few pounds a year. Back in February of this year, I was embarrassed that I had climbed back up to 239. I was traveling a lot and was having a lot of discomfort fitting into an airplane seat, and figured it was time to get serious again. I talked to my doctor about starting Zepbound to give me a little help getting back to a healthy weight. Now, in July 2025, I'm happy to report that I'm down to 191 and in a much better place with my weight. My goal was always 200, so I'm happy where I am.

It's been a little over 5 years since I started this- I'm still on track, but I need to start doing more physical exercise. I have been spending way too much time at my desk lately, so time to get outside more and get back to walking every day. I'm at 187, so getting within a few pounds of my all-time low of 184. I have my annual bariatric physician checkup in a few weeks, and I'm sure she'll lecture me about not lifting weights- but at least my weight is in a good place.

If getting outside and dedicating a big chunk of time to walking doesn’t fit your schedule then 15 minutes at a time even back and forth around your house or even in place is something. It’s too hot out for me and rains alot in the afternoons so i found myself more likely to jump up when my alarm goes off and do 15 minutes than a planned walk. And a bonus is you don’t really have to change clothes other than maybe put on sneakers if you need them to be safe and i don’t really get sweaty that fast.

I also have been known to put my headset on if I have to call like Internet or cell phone service or something and walk back-and-forth in the house while I’m on hold or talking to them. I have Verizon make me mad over like 80 bucks and I was arguing for months and I told them that they were my entertainment for walking so if they were waiting for me to just let this go, then I definitely was not going to. 😂
