Hello everyone. I'm new here. I had my 1st appointment yesterday with the Dr and a surgery date of January 22nd, assuming all goes well with pre-operative testing. 36 y/o mom of 2. Current weight = 243, Goal weight = 150 and I'm 5'5. I'm excited but extremely nervous as well. I've been reading a lot and look forward to being a part of the group. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

Unsolicited advice follows:

Be sure to do your research. Learn about your surgery and WHY you want THAT surgery. What you expect the surgery to do for you? Do you know the rules? Not just what is listed as edible, but WHY so that when you are in a new place you know what you can eat.

Once you decide on your surgery you should already know every answer to every question you would ask. Otherwise, how did you decide appropriately?

Put your scale in a bag. Put the bag in a box. Put the box in a safe. Throw the safe in a lake. When you want to weigh, just get it out of the lake, safe, box, and bag.

Good luck and enjoy your ride.

Thank you. I'm the queen of research. I research everything! I've been on the fence about surgery for about 2 years now. I actually had my initial consultation in February 2019 but chickened out so I've done tons of research prior to my 1st appointment but even so I'm sure there is always room to learn more. Hence the reason I joined this board. I look forward to the journey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
