December Surgery

I am scheduled to have a Roux en y gastric bypass procedure on December 16th at 7:30am CT. I had originally wanted a gastric sleeve, but the endoscopy that I had showed that due to a condition in my esophageal flap (Hill Grade 4), that would not be possible. Anyway, I am excited and scared. My 3 week liquid liver-shrinking diet starts on Sunday, November 24th.

I was so nervous about making sure I followed my pre-op diet to the letter that I didn't have time to get nervous about having the procedure. I'm wishing you lots of luck and success and I'm hoping everything goes absolutely smoothly for you!!! ♥️♥️♥️

  • Enjoy the good news and plan do not worry about the rest - Let it happen and all will be good

I am excited for you! Good luck!

I’m having gastric bypass on 11/21 and I’m nervous because of all the health issues I’ve developed since being sleeved 7 years ago (kept weight off), but now the GERD and hernia are prompting this surgery. Best wishes to you!!

Congratulations!! My sleeve date is also set for 12/16, I go today for my pre op visit. Even that had me a bit nervous lol

I was originally scheduled for gastric sleeve surgery, but it got switched to a bypass due to issues found with my endoscope. I'm returning to the dietician next week to get the new plan of eating post-surgery, right before I begin the 3 week pre-op diet on November 24.

My knees desperately need replacing and my surgeon said I could start getting my knees replaced 6 months after my bariatric surgery. Yesterday, I was able to get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon in February to evaluate and make a plan.

I know you will do great! I have a friend in Florida who had a gastric sleeve last December and is down about 70 lbs. When she was feeling discouraged about the restrictions during the holidays, she reminded herself, "I'm getting a sleeve for Christmans!"

My preop diet appt is next Wednesday with the dietician. But then I have to go back to see the surgeon on 12/4 because he's out of town right now due to the holiday. I wish it could all be done together

Oh man yeah it was really convenient to get everything done in one day. Did my preop labs yesterday, met anesthesia, RT, pharmacist first. Then pre registered. Went to the financial office to pay my deductible of $250 and then went and met with surgeon & surgical nurse. Got my binder with all of my info for before and after. Have to do 10 days of preop diet!

They gave me my binder at my first surgeon visit and I completely forgot I still have to see anesthesia. I'm trying to balance all my appts between work and school. I want to go out and have a few of my favorite foods before my preop diet begins. Nothing crazy but since I won't be eating them for a long time. I just don't want to gain any weight before I go back to see the surgeon. I've been maintaining since my last visit which was 1 month ago.

I had been maintaining too just so my surgeon could see my progress but now it’s on lol. Me and my husband have a date today for a crab leg boil and I can’t wait. About 2 other places I have to have before surgery cause I definitely won’t get to have them for a long while ?? lol. Thankfully I’ll get to enjoy thanksgiving dinner before my preop diet begins!

Congrats all with December dates. Mine RNY is scheduled for Dec 31st, so I'll still my new year with some pretty obvious resolutions :) I will be on my pre-op diet during Christmas that will be OK.
