Wrong calcium

Recommended Posts

O.k, I know this may sound dumb, but I just realized that for the past two months I’ve been taking Calcium carbonate instead of calcium citrate - how bad is this?

(I was sleeved 6/12, took calcium citrate for a month then calcium carbonate from then until now)

*Basically* the same (both are calcium) but one is better absorbed post surgery (citrate)

Ask your team if it matters in your particular case.

Good Luck 💜

Yeah, once we have our surgeries- be it VSG or RNY, we no longer have enough gastric acid to digest Carbonates, so they just pass through and into your "poo", makes "Number 2" rather expensive, At least I THINK SO! But YMYC in the long run, right?☺

Yes that makes sense 😊 I guess as long as I stick to the citrate from now on I’ll be ok, I doubt two months of carbonates did me really wrong, I’ll still check with my doctor. Thank you!

I've been taking carbonate chocolate or caramel chews for 18 months now (viactiv or CVS brand). Numbers are great. My Nut said either is fine and that citrate you can take on an empty stomach and for carbonate you have to take with food.

Here’s what I read about the difference when looking for my calcium citrate. But accidentally bought carbonate due to a site not being correct.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
