Water intake after Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hello I’m just playing the waiting game right now until I get the pre-op app. call (we are just waiting on my psych eval report to get to my surgeon last week but I don’t know if they have gotten it yet.)

Anyways, I am use to drinking close to a gallon of Water everyday. If you were like this as well before your surgery, was it hard for you to lessen your amount of water after surgery? (I was told at my nutritionist appointment that my goal is to have 64 oz. a day which is a little for me. I’m worried I’m going to have a hard time with that.

I wasn't under the impression that we had to drink any less, but a minimum of 64 oz or more per day. So more is okay, just not WITH meals, at least 10 minutes before and 30 minutes after.

Yea maybe I’ll ask, she said that’s how much I’ll probably be able to take in for a day and I hope that’s not gonna be the case.

Yes, it will be difficult to drink a gallon of Water a day directly after a surgery that removes most of your stomach.

You will be able to increase the amount you drink each day. We have many people here able to drink that and many of us that do not.

Right after surgery you'll find it difficult to get 64 ounces of Water. Drinking water will become a full time job. You will get back to drinking a gallon but it will take time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
