Hi everyone! Surgery on Monday!

Recommended Posts

Hi! My name is Melissa. I’ve debated whether I should post or just remain a lurker... but here I am! Everyone here is so great and supportive, I figured it would only help me if I joined y’all. I have been overweight for literally my entire life, and have never been able to keep a significant amount of weight off for long. I have no co-morbidities, but I do have PCOS. I’m 5’4’’ with a weight of 279 currently. I’m having my gastric sleeve surgery Monday the 25th!!! I’ve been on a liquid diet since last Monday and have not cheated once, so I’m super proud of myself. I really wanted a whataburger yesterday haha. I wish you all the best of luck!

Hey Melissa !

I also have PCOS and that was the driving force for my surgery. My husband and I want a family and this surgery was literally our last hope. I wish you luck and a speedy recovery. Please keep in touch with me , I would like to see how your weight loss is going after surgery, if the PCOS affects it!! The surgery is awesome and a life changer! You will do great 👍

Momo, let’s definitely keep in touch! How long ago did you have surgery? It will be so fantastic for you and your future family! I used clomid and metformin to get pregnant with my two, but I was terrified the entire time that something would happen because of my weight. I was SO lucky though... no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and full-term vaginal deliveries with both (sorry if tmi haha).
I really am so excited for you!!

@MelTed

haha don’t worry it wasn’t TMI

i have type two diabetes so it’s been difficult. My Doc isn’t going to want to give me Clomid until the 18 months is up. We’ve done everything but my weight was aslways a factor. I take my metfomin religiously!!

Honeslty im hoping that I lose enough weight with this sleeve to kick PCOS in the booty and get pregnant all on my own.

They surgery is great I’ve been having great numbers with my glucos testing!

You will do great like I said ! Just afterward get plenty of rest because once you get up and go you don’t stop !!

hi Momo & Melissa - i, too, have PCOS and am having Duodenal Switch surgery on July 11. I am excited and i also wonder how my PCOS will affect my weight loss.

Momo, it looks like you are doing great. How long has it been since you first had surgery? Do you still have PCOS symptoms?

I went to my 4th NUT appointment this week and I was absolutely surprised that I had actually lost 9 pounds from my last appointment.  I can get a bit obsessive when it comes to scale use so I've decided to only do pre-op weigh-ins at my monthly appointments.  It saves me a lot of anxiety, I think.
I actually was prepared to go to the appointment with excuses on why i gained, so this was a big win.  I didn't actually add much activity to my routine, the only thing I changed was having protein shakes every morning instead of just weekdays.  I really thought my extracuricular snacking activities were going to cause an issue, but I'm not going to let that make feel like it's ok to snack late or keep eating cheese non-stop.   Also probably helps that I had the stomach bug a couple days last week.  I think my organs liquified and came out....yuck...

Stalls are the WORST.  I know they happen, but I am still disappointed.  I've been the same weight for over 2 weeks.

Girl, that stall will break. Give your body a minute to realize what's happening and catch up with itself...it'll kick back in gear! 💓

Im absolutely terrified to buy underwear these days 😢, I realized I don't know my real size in anything anymore.

I know the feeling. I did some major online shopping with all the sales around black friday. In tops I wear anywhere between a S-L. In pants from 6-10. But I must own the world's most elastic panties, because -100+ lbs, I still wear the same undies!

I went against my weekly weigh in and cheated today the scale says I'm 248 😂How? Maybe it's wrong lol I just purchased the scale and it's my first time using it. I'll weigh my daughter to see if it's accurate. I was 255 this time last week so I guess it's a real possibility. I'll let you know , I have been very picky about sugars and carbs even though I don't have a huge variety of foods to choose from. I'm super excited and hope everyone is doing great! Got to charge my iPad but I just had to share my happiness
