Surgery Date Frustration

This is more of a rant than a question but I'm feeling so frustrated with getting my surgery date. I found out I was approved on 12/27 but I needed to get a test done to check for a certain type of bacteria. I waited and waited for them to call and schedule it but they never did so I finally got ahold of the right department and had the test today. I called the bariatric office today to see what the timeline would look like once the surgeon receives the results and, unfortunately, spoke to my least favorite coordinator, who is very rude. He basically gave a non-answer and said that once the surgeon gets the results they will "eventually" call me.

I wouldn't be so worried about the date except we were trying to get it done in time for my husband to be off work to be with me. He's been on disability for almost two years after a severe accident and we're trying to balance getting him back with my surgery. The deadline for him to return is 2/20. I'm so afraid he will have to go back to work and won't be able to take time off and won't be able to even see me since my surgery is 1.5 hours away from home.

I'm so frustrated!!!!!!! I see so many people say, "I found out I was approved! My date is X!" And here I am a month after approval with no idea of my date.

Thank you so much, you guys. I was so frustrated yesterday but today I decided to try again and explained the situation with my husband. He called back about 2 hours later with a date! February 15! Wo

  • I'd put your concerns in writing with the dates you need....and drop an email carbon copied to all the coordinators in your group. I have had really good luck using my group's email to get my needs me

I'd put your concerns in writing with the dates you need....and drop an email carbon copied to all the coordinators in your group. I have had really good luck using my group's email to get my needs met. it gives them a chance to do it at their convenience, and the written record gives them something to refer to in case someone else cancels.

I lucked into a canceled slot and got my surgery the week after I was approved. This was at an office where they're scheduling surgeries two and three months out.

Leave an electronic paper trail...it helps more than leaving phone messages.

Congratulations! That's fantastic news. It's such a relief, isn't it? (I had my husband's work and him being able to take off as a stressor - somewhat similar to yours.) Wishing you all the best on February 15th. :206_cat:

Make that triplets -- bypass for me on the 15th as well. :D

I don't know yet. I have my last pre-op appointment tomorrow, so I'm guessing soon.
