Hair loss

I had surgery on 8/25 and now 3 months later, my hair is falling out like I'm on chemo....ltons of long strands from the root are falling out daily. The doctor told me yesterday that no Biotin or Vitamins are going to help. She said it is going to get very very thin and suggested I cut my hair! I cried. I have long, thick hair, and am praying that I don't go bald. I just ordered the Keranique serum, and am hoping it helps. Any suggestions would be welcome......

Research iron (ferritin levels) and L Lysine for hairloss

  • if you're going to lose it, you're going to lose it - there's really nothing that will stop it. But keeping on top of your protein and vitamins will probably keep it from getting any worse than it is

  • Lady Rogaine. I'm using it as a precaution cause I know mine's gonna thin horribly. Has after surgeries in the past. Does grow back, though. Also...Paul Mitchell anti-thinning shampoo helps.

if you're going to lose it, you're going to lose it - there's really nothing that will stop it. But keeping on top of your protein and vitamins will probably keep it from getting any worse than it is. The good news is, it's temporary. It'll all grow back. And with most people, you're the only one who will notice it.

I'm 6 months out and have a lot of long thick hair- it's now falling out in handfuls but I'm told if I use biotin and make sure I'm getting enough protein it will stop. Also I was told today that I should mix my shampoo with apple cider vinegar so I'm going to give it a shot

I'm so sorry about your hair. Hopefully you'll be the only one to notice. And if anyone else does notice, screw 'me, it's not their concern.

My nutritionist told me to stay up with the protein to help prevent hair loss. I'm taking biotin too, though, and I've been using good shampoo and conditioner (I prefer Aveda) to help keep what hair I do have in good shape. Oh, and I'm crossing my fingers. That might help most of all.

Thank you everyone. I will keep everyone posted as I go thru the Journey and will post if the Keranique works. I have been taking mega vitamins and Biotin since long before surgery and it is not helping. Also, this isnt my first surgery. I never had this type of hair loss with my other surgeries . My husband has not noticed and is a gem - he has male patterned baldness and said we can get matching hats. hahahaha Love him
