HOLIDAY CHALLENGE TIME!! LET'S DO THIS!

Hello all! Only 45 days left till Christmas....yikes!!!!

Our awesome fellow WLS champion DashofPixieDust8 is passing the baton to me to run this challenge, as she has a LOT going on right now! I have soooo appreciated all the time and effort she has put into challenges. Soooooo....are we ready for the Holiday Challenge?

I know for me personally, I really need accountability and encouragement around the holidays. It's way too easy to get off track with the goodies, parties and festivities. So to help us stay on track as much as possible and to reach some goals, I think a Holiday Challenge is in order!

Basically, the rules are exactly the same as DashofPixieDust8 has been posting in previous challenges. The only thing is that I cannot give out prizes. I'm sorry- I know, I'm a scrooge! No, I'm really not, it's just that I can't commit to buying prizes at this time, however, reaching or even exceeding our goals is rewarding enough, right? ;-) Slight change to note: We will have Wednesday Weigh-ins.

This challenge will run from Wednesday, November 15th (beginning weight and goals posted) to January 10th (last weigh in). I will do my best to post to the spreadsheet within 1 - 2 day of receiving your weight. I will recalculate the figures as soon as I can following the Wednesday weigh in . You may post your weight at any time during the week if Wednesday is not your weigh in day!

This challenge is for everyone. If you are pre-op, post op, in maintenance or looking for some accountability; no matter if you are sleeve, band, rny, bypass, all are welcome- this challenge is for you!

Procedures:
Please Post Your Starting Weight between today and November 15th and Goal Weight (what you would like to weigh at the end of the 9 week challenge).

You can cut/paste this below and fill it in on your post -

Goal Weight:
Current Weight:
Today's Date:

Rules:

1. Post your weight on this thread every Wednesday, Specifically 11/15 (beginning weight), 11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20, 12/27, 1/3, and 1/10 (last day).
2. If you change your screen name please let me know.
3. If you miss 2 or more weigh-ins, I will assume you no longer want to participate and your name will be removed from the spreadsheet.
4. If you miss a weigh in on Wednesday, no problem. Just post it asap.
5. We are all here to support each other if you post a question anyone can answer.

6. You will know your weight is updated on the spreadsheet once I've liked your post!

The link to the spreadsheet will be posted soon (before 11/15) . In the meantime please feel free to post your beginning weight and goal! Have fun, and good luck with this challenge!Remember we are all here to support each other! I look forward to running this challenge with you!

I mentally calculated 29.6 pounds.

Well, thank you. As I said before, it's my best SUMMER/XMAS for many seasons here from November to January. (Yes, readers, Australia's seasons are 'inverted'. We are mid-summer right now.)

I wanted to achieve that 34 pound loss in the period. It was very good to go close.

The success is borne out by an old Wayne Gretzky story.

A journalist (years ago) said to Gretzky (in his prime), "Geez, Wayne, you have an average 4.7 shots on goal for each goal you score. That's a lot of wasted shots."

Gretzky said: "Yeah, and I never score any goals from the shots I don't take."

That's how I feel about missing my 304 target ... I went way closer to this very target than any targets I'd previously set in other years.

You just posted one of my all time favorite quotes! I told that to my husband years ago, and he still uses it on my today!! Love it.

Great job in this challenge!! Loved having you!! (insert applause) :-)

Final weigh in is 220. Didn’t come close to my goal for this challenge, but at least it’s heading in the right direction. Thanks for running this challenge!

Forgot to post yesterday, 215!! Goal was 220. Next goal- get below 200 which i have not seen in probably 20 years!!!

Thank you so much Kel for running this. It is so helpful to have accountability friends who understand the challenges with this process, especially since I am still learning myself!

Looking forward to a new challenge to stay on course!

I apologize for being a day late.

Weigh-in this morning is 196 lbs.

Thank you for the work you put into running this challenge, Kel. It was great to be a part of it.

Congratulations on making your challenge goal! And for taking steps toward healing in all aspects. It's been wonderful having you participate and hearing your support and perspectives!

Thanks Kel, your support and kind words have been important to me, I do appreciate you! Thanks too for picking this challenge task up, you’ve done great and hope you start another soon!!

Happy 2018 to You [emoji323]

Whoops, I never got my final weight in for this challenge last night. Yesterday I saw 158 on the scale for the first time, and it was there again today. I am losing verrrrry slowly but steadily.

i was supposed to get down to 154, which was too ambitious, but I didn’t know. But for the first time in my adult life I LOST WEIGHT DURING THE HOLIDAYS. I baked and baked and baked. I love to bake goodies. And I ate how much of the sweets I baked? How much did I eat? NONE NONE NONE NOT ONE BITE.

No one but you guys can understand that, how huge that is. Each week I throw away a plate of cookies or something because my family just can’t eat that much. Meaning I used to eat 10 of them a day probably. I don’t eat desserts at all. And I get still lots of pleasure from baking them, it now is like crafting or woodwork or ceramics (that smell really good) to me. Why would I gain weight at the holidays now? I d like to hope this lasts forever. I eat protein, and a bit of veg and seeds/beans, and I’m not going to pig out on them, ever. Right? I don’t eat processed carbs any more.

Thanks for this challenge. I am very happy to be in the 150s even if I am 5 lbs more than I imagined. I consider it a total success.

GREAT JOB!!! And the biggest victory is the ability to say no the bad crap, and you marched right through the holidays, so hats off to you!! Like you, I love to cook and bake, and try my best not to eat them. ;-) Congrats on your success in the challenge!
