Hi My name is Rissa. I'm 24 years old and a new mom to a 6 month old. I've struggled with obesity my whole life, tried every diet pill, workout, meal plan and nothing worked.. From doctors telling me I was prone to so many health issues and a patient who "might" have pcos. I got blessed with my miracle baby. I gained 80 lbs with my pregnancy, weighing in at 345 my highest weight. Dr diagnosed me with preeclampsia 2 days before I was induced. After giving birth I lost 41 pounds( minus 7lbs which my son weighed) and I've been stuck. So 2 months ago, I was FINALLY prescribed phentermine! I went from 304 to 290 in 2 months. Now, my journey begins! October 25 I have my pre-op and November 2nd this momma is on the road to a better, greater, healthy lifestyle!! if you have any tips for things I can consume in my liquid diet or excerises let me know! Thank you!

Are you getting the VSG surgery? The best advice I can give you is to stick to the plan your doctor gives you. Do whatever it takes to make that easier for you. Some people need to see a therapist to deal with food addiction issues some don't.

It is a good idea to have a support group in place and that could be this forum if you don't have good support near you. Don't compare your rate of loss with everyone else because we are all individuals. Get used to weighing and logging your food. This is extremely helpful during the pre-op and post-op periods. Some can gradually give up the logging once they are further out and closer to goal, but many people continue for quite some time.

Believe in yourself and keep your reasons for changing posted somewhere so you can refer back to them during rough moments. Make a list of things you will accomplish as you lose the weight, this is very motivating.

Look at this as a complete life style change and embrace the healthy changes you need to make. I think the most successful people long term have made permanent changes in the way they eat and their relationship with food. They also establish daily exercise routines. The exercise is more about getting fit and keeping your body moving, then helping with weight loss. Your diet will mostly responsible for that. I hope this helps some. Search past threads on any subject you have questions about and just jump in and join the discussions.

Well done you, I think it’s a great decision to do it when your young. I had a pregnancy like yours with precampsia and everything. I should have done it after that! You’re having yours 5 days before me. Keep us up to date! Mine is on nov 7th and I can’t wait. What a great decision you’ve made for your health [emoji16]

Best of luck to you, it's not a easy journey but it's work every moment. I have to agree that finding a good support system is key. If you have a program that has a support group, go, even if you feel you don't need it. Also follow your plan and stick with it, even when it's hard. It's such a short period of time in the long run but it helps you make smart lifestyle changes. And finally don't be afraid to ask if you have questions or concerns.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

      Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
