NSV-Skinny Jeans

Recommended Posts

Prior to my VSG I swore I would never wear skinny jeans. The couple times I tried them on in the past was not a joyful experience. If I was lucky enough to get them above my calves they did nothing for my figure. I would wiggle around trying to get them on and then feel like an udder shame when I looked in the mirror. I was solidly a boot cut jean type of girl.

Well..... I not only found a pair that fit but I love the way they look on my figure. Also, I'm wearing white! White is not a forgiving color, I've always been a black/dark solids girl but not anymore!

Congratulations... great results...

Same here, now I went down to size 36, and had to buy slim fit pants so they last longer through my last 60 lbs to loose

Keep it going..

I had the same NSV. I always wear leggings because my body is curvy and i'm short so it's hard to find jeans for myself. But also, since I had gained a lot of weight, I did not want to know what size my pants actually were so I never went to go buy jeans. But since I've been losing weight, I was feeling more confident and decided to go buy a pair of jeans. I had one pair before surgery and I was a size 18. I went to Old Navy maybe 2 weeks ago and I was a size 14 (stretchy jeans but still...) lol then I saw a pair of white slacks I bought from Express a couple years ago (size 12) and I thought, let's see how these fit so I know when I might fit into a size twelve soon...they zipped up and buttoned, a little tight but they actually fit. I dropped 3 pant sizes and I'll be 3 months post op on the 14th of this month. How awesome are we?

It feels great doesn't it? I'm 9 months post op and I've gone from a snug 22 to a comfortable 12/14 depending on brand. It's so strange to me to go to straight size stores and be able to find stuff to buy.

I've always been a jeans girl, even at my highest weight though moving into those 22 was hard as hell, I've never been comfortable in leggings but it was getting so hard to find a good pair of jeans and expensive too that I started wearing leggings last fall. My favorite Lane Bryant jeans set me back 80.00 a pair. These jeans cost me 11.00 at Sears and they are so comfortable.

OMG thank you for saying that. I'm having huge self esteem issues with my stomach because I have loose skin on my upper belly and it creates a muffin top depending on what I wear. I never view myself as having a flat tummy. That made my day!

I actually wore leggings last week and didn't feel fat! Wouldn't wear them before the weight loss because I was too lumpy!

Thank you so much! It's really true. I look back at my old pictures and I'm like "how did I ever let myself get to that place?" How did I not see I was that big. It's funny how out mind plays tricks on us. For years it didn't allow me to see how big I was and now that I've lost 100+ pounds I look in the mirror and still see my old self. Everyday is a lesson!

Love these nsv! Prior to becoming pregnant, I was in a size 2 jeans. Before surgery: a size 28! Being able to wear a belt was amazing as well. Being able to tuck in a shirt is amazing. Also, being able to go to the doctor with no shame. Stepping on the scales confidently.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
