Straws

Hi all. My surgery is 6/7. Im obsessively reading everything I can before then.

I don't remember reading anything about the use of straws. Is it allowed or discouraged? Too much air/liquid? Not sure.

I've been using straws the past week and no issues. I don't see what all the fuss is about, but maybe not everyone can use them as easily as I can.

I was avoiding straws at first before I returned to work. When I got back I started drinking out of them just from habit. It was probably a week before I realized what I was doing. I haven't had any issues. I'm one month out.

I use a straw all the time. I've never had any issues with gas or reflux. I don't swallow air when I drink through a straw, so I don't understand the correlation.

I don't have problems with straws either. Just drink one sip at a time, separating the air from the liquid in the mouth.

A straw with a hole in it can bring a ton of air, but that's pretty easy to tell.

I think the problem is only for people that guzzle with the straw.
