Showering after surgery

How long do I have to wait to take a shower after surgery? 4 years ago, I broke my arm and had a plate and screws put in my arm. I had to wait several days before I could shower due to the incision. Do I have to wait again?

Thank you everyone!

I showered the day after surgery. If you don't keep the incisions clean and aired out or have an allergic reaction to the glue, you could develop dermatitis. I did a week post-op. Dermatitis is not a complication... it's just really annoying because it itches like crazy but it clears on it's own if you keep your incisions not covered and shower at least daily.
