Showering after surgery

How long do I have to wait to take a shower after surgery? 4 years ago, I broke my arm and had a plate and screws put in my arm. I had to wait several days before I could shower due to the incision. Do I have to wait again?

Thank you everyone!

I showered the day after surgery. If you don't keep the incisions clean and aired out or have an allergic reaction to the glue, you could develop dermatitis. I did a week post-op. Dermatitis is not a complication... it's just really annoying because it itches like crazy but it clears on it's own if you keep your incisions not covered and shower at least daily.

It may depend on how they close your wounds. I had superglue and as allowed to shower the day after surgery. If you've got stitches or staples, it may be longer.
