I had to take baby sips for the first several days or else the water would get stuck and hurt. Hopefully you find relief soon.

If your Dr. doesn't find any issues, then try sipping as mentioned as well as experimenting with the temperature and consistency. I found I could not tolerate cold beverages initially and I had to Water down my Protein shakes as they were way too thick.
