Hi. I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I'm struggling with food. I am on the soft food phase, I follow the rules. I eat very slow and I take very small bites (the size of a pencil eraser) yet everything I eat gets stuck even yogurt and apple sauce. As you can imagine it's very uncomfortable. What can I do?

Go back to pureed foods. THEY TOLD me that you will eat pureed foods for at least 3 months. Call your surgeons office.

I graduated to soft foods after about 3 weeks. A woman in our support group had same problem and vomits. If it were me I'd ask my surgeon. The first month is hell.

This sounds like something to run by your surgeon. You may just still be swollen from surgery.

@@kerber I believe the poster said she's eating yogurt and applesauce... that's pureed if I ever knew it, isn't it?

@@bypassthatbunni, talk to your doctor's office and let them know the problems you are having. Each doctor, and each program has different expectations.

I am 4 weeks out today, and am supposed to be able to eat soft foods now, but I already know that may not work for me, as I've been sick several times from some of the things I've eaten... my little pouch is a picky little sucker!

Ate you stopping fluids 30-45 min before you eat? That was my problem it wouldn't let me hold anything down

Yes. Things are getting a little better, I went to the doctor and found out that I was severely dehydrated.. Thats why I couldn't take any thing by mouth. I'm still struggling with getting it in but I'm getting better each day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
