May 24 Surgery Day

So excited and nervous! Is anyone else having surgery on my date? I would like us all in one thread to give our own experiences. It'll be great! We will all be in pain at the same time. [emoji1]

Oh man, no that's nothing like what I felt. I was still able to eat and drink normally. I hope it's nothing serious.

Is anyone getting a rash around their cuts? I am and it's itching like crazy!

I dont know if this reply is too late, but I only just had my staples removed. The nurse put some kind of glue and then some steri-strips. That night, I was itching like crazy. It was so bad that I got up and opened each one, cleaned it with alcohol and put some new strips in. The nurse did a terrible job anyway. After that, I stopped itching. I think it's the glue they use to keep the strips in place.

I haven't had much problems with not eating "normal" food, but tonight my husband is making homemade baked chicken fingers. The house smells so good. Wish I could just have 1/2 of one finger, but since I just added scrambled eggs 2 days ago, probably not a good idea! :-(

That's terrible @@macdonaldkelly but at the same time... just the smell of delicious food brings salivating joy. Be strong!

I haven't had to cook since the day before surgery. Since I haven't been able to drive, my sister has been getting my nephew from school. Today, I'm back on my regular schedule. As soon as we get home, "Auntie Monica, I'm hungry!!" I can already hear him. We'll see how strong my will is after that. ????

Well just discovered the perils of eating too much/fast. Had a scrambled egg at 5:30 for dinner. It set ok (not as good as last time), drank 8oz of water between 6:00 & 8:00, and then made "ice cream" (high protein milk, protein powder and fruit puree in the ice cream maker). I didn't even eat a serving of the icecream, just licked the beaters, but I'm dying. Feels like there is a golf ball stuck in my gut!! NOT fun!!

Well initially he pissed me off saying I'm just being anxious n I was so upset because of course I'm anxious I'm in the worse pain...he told me put on a tight garment and drink warm tea which I did pain went slightly away n now it's back so he called back and told me to come in to emergency room I'm so sad i was doing so well

Dear Refried Beans,

When I bought you, I couldn't wait to taste you. I feared you might be too chunky, so that is why I put you in my juice blender. Once you were done, I put you in a 1/2 cup Glade tupperware. I then wanted you to be warm, so I put you in the microwave. You were so hot, the flavor so delicious and spicy. I enjoyed several small spoons of you. Then, the worst happened. I became full but my head was not. I wanted to keep eating you, but I just could not. Please understand, it's not you, it's me.

Love,

Monica

Love it!!

Unfortunately I have no desire for food at all, the smell, the thought makes me neasious, I'm still vomiting daily, went to doctor 2day did swollow test, said looks good, told me don't worry about eating, just keep sipping, started on new medication I guess it empties my stomach faster so liquids don't sit there...I'm frustrated, have lost 27#

Omg that is so much. 27 since surgery?

I about to get to week 2 of free fluids. No vomiting or nausea so far. I did try a little bit of plain greek yoghurt - found I can handle about 3-4 dessert spoons and thats it. I am using up my supply of Optifast at the moment - takes me around an hour to drink 200-250ml of it at the moment. Taking a couple of chewable vitamins a day as well. Getting in a bit of exercise too which is good. I'm down 14lbs since surgery on 24th May.

Good morning ladies So it turns out to be two big clots one at the vein that goes to my spleen n the other the vein that gets rid of the bad blood out of my intestine...so I'll be stuck at the hospital until further notice
