Had bypass on 2/22 and just had my staples removed yesterday. My incisions are so dry and crusty is there anything that you put on your incisions to help them heel?

After staples are removed it's ok to put some soap on your hand and gently clean each incision in the shower. Small gentle circles....

If you want to put something on them after you shower I used Aquaphor on mine and they look great less than a month from surgery.

Aquafor is one of the recommended ointments. I was also told that vaseline works.

Make sure to check with surgeon first before applying any lotions. Usually incisions must be fully healed before applying any lotions.

My surgeon recommended vitamin e oil. I used it and helped out a lot. I just had to make sure that I didn't use it while I still had the dermabond on my incisions (I didn't have stitches or staples). I used it twice a day and it helped out. Now that I'm about 8 months post op, I switched over to using Mederma for the scars. It's expensive (about $20 for a tube), but a little goes a long way and it really does work.
