there is no average, unfortunately. It's dependent on which surgery you had, starting weight, how much you need to lose, how fast or slow your metabolism is, the balance of many different hormones, other medical issues, how much food and liquid you get in, exercise, etc. The list goes on and on.

What was your starting weight, if you don't mind me asking?

The amount you lose varies from person to person and depends on what surgery you had. By the time I was 5 months post op, I lost 85 pounds (125 since I started the program 4 months prior to my surgery). You need to follow the advice and guidance from your bariatric team.

1- Follow your nutritional guidelines

2- Get your fluids

3- Exercise

4- Vitamins

I'm out 5 months and have lost 85 since starting program and 69 since day of surgery. But I agree, everyone is different.

Comparing yourself with others can be playing head games. I started out at about 215 (the surgery was the best method to fix my extreme and I do mean extreme reflux) at 5 months I was down to 170. I'm now just past 6 months and at 164. The doctor says I will lose about another 10-15 and then after a year gain about 5-10 back.

I have been a slow loser and it would blow my mind to see how quickly some people lose. I try to tell my focus that everyone is on their own journey but that doesn't always help haha. Good luck.

I too am having the surgery for EXTREME reflux, was it successful? I don't want to lose weight, I'm at 140lbs ( was sleeved in 2012), but Drs said will probably lose 15-20lbs and will average out. I was down to 120 size 2, so I'll be happy to wear my little shorts again

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
