I'm 9 weeks down 43 lbs.. To me it seems like a SLOW process or not even moving at times.

My husband is in the oil field so you can imagine where this is going.. He hasn't worked in almost 3 months. I'm a stay at home mom to our 4 year old daughter.

Times are rough now than its been in the past. I seem to be falling back into my old ways. I eat when I'm depressed, stressed, worried etc.. (Or I find myself going all day not eating Bc my mind is going 90 miles an hour).

The things I chose to eat aren't always good either. I feel like I'm failing myself... But I have hit a road block! I look to food as support for what my husband and I are going thru. Let's not mention that not having a job already puts strain on your marriage.

Just some advice would be helpful!! Or if u know of some WORK that would be great to! THANKS FOR LISTENING while I kinda vent. ????

Congratulations on your weight loss. You are doing great. Please try not to compare yourself to other people. You will lose weight at your own pace.

That said, you do need to do your very best to follow your program to get the best results.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise.

Not eating is the WORST thing you can do. You have to get in all of your Protein and fluids throughout the day. Skipping meals is not an option. If you need to, make a schedule and set an alarm to make sure you eat.

Are you tracking your food?

I am so sorry to hear you are having a rough time with your work and marital situation. Do you have a therapist? Does your program have a bariatric support group? Do you have a minister or other trusted counselor that you and your husband can talk to?

Even though we have had weight loss surgery, we didn't receive an operation on our head. We still have to learn how to manage our moods and emotions and deal with stress without using food.

You can start with something as simple as taking a walk when you want to eat something that isn't on your plan.

A book I read recently may be helpful. It's called Eat it Up! and was written by a therapist who works with weight loss surgery patients. The author addresses a lot of common issues that arise after weight loss surgery.

I wish you all the best. You can learn to navigate life without turning to food. It isn't easy but is worth it.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Also, even though I wrote this post about stalls, you might find it helpful.

Embrace the Stall!

@@lsubabe33,

@@Inner Surfer Girl gave you some excellent advice and ideas. I'd like to add that eating badly won't solve any of the problems. It won't bring in jobs for your husband and it won't pay the bills. It does no more than undo the good work you've done since surgery and make you feel even worse about everything.

There are a couple of other resources to help with emotional eating and stress. Either or both may be right for you.

ShrinkYourself.com

This is the site of Roger Gould, a psychologist, and deals with emotional eating and developing new habits and insights. Click the option for the free emailed newsletters. As you read them, do whatever exercises they provide.

"The Beck Diet Solution," is a book by Judith Beck, a CBT psychologist. (Don't confuse it with her later book with a similar title and which includes a diet plan -- useless to WLS people -- and therefore less psych guidance and fewer tools.) Her first book is meant to be read from page 1, not by skipping around. Do all the exercises. Use a notebook and index cards rather than writing directly in the book so that you can revisit any time you may need an extra boost.

I wish you and your family the best.

I haven't been sleeved yet but your progress sounds great. I wanna be like you with 43lbs in 9wks...I don't want some HUGE drop.

I also plan on sticking with weight watchers meetings after my surgery. I find it very helpful to sit with people who have the same struggles with food. You really do learn tips to make better choices and even if you mess up they teach you how to not beat yourself up over it and fall into depression.

Also...would it be possible for YOU to get a job? Your daughter may be eligible for free pre-k in your area. Sometimes SAH moms just need to get out into the workforce to feel a sense of confidence and mingle with other working women. ????

I could go to work and would like to. I haven't worked in 5 years. I'm not sure how fast I could get a job. Also, I have college experience but no degree therefore the pay won't be worth working. If that makes since.

Thank you all for support!

@@lsubabe33 -- You've already decided that there's no point in exploring job possibilities? It makes no sense to me, but that's just one woman's view..

Umm no I don't believe I said I wasn't going to look.

@@lsubabe33 -- That's good. Try not to be pessimistic about job prospects, though. Under the best circumstances, job hunting isn't fun, all the more reason to to whatever we can to keep our heads up. Again, I wish you all good things ahead.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
