So I found out I have gallstones. No problems as of yet with them that I am aware of. Do you think it's possible to just take it out when I have my bypass? Anyone with the same? Now I'm worried it will delay this already slow moving process.

I had mine out at the same time. I didn't have stones, just a non-functioning gallbladder.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and went back to work this week. I have 1 extra "puncture" site than I would have had originally and it's given me know problems. I don't think I'm any worse for the wear, however, it's one more assault on your digestive system. Mine seems to be tolerating it ok.

I had an abdominal ultrasound and upper GI series as part of my pre-op testing. The tests revealed a small hiatal hernia and gallstones. The surgeon is going to repair the hernia and remove my gallbladder during my gastric bypass surgery. I am scheduled for Oct.21. Only 33 days from now!

I am really hoping my doc will take it out at the same time... He's kinda vague about all the details still. He has a weight loss goal for me before the surgery. He's a tougher doc apparently... Ugh.

If you already have gallstones you should ask for it to be taken out now if he doesn't offer because the surgery itself puts you at a higher risk for gallstones post op because of the high protein diet. If you don't get it out at the time of surgery, you're probably looking at a repeat op within the next few months to remove it.
