Gastric bypass failures

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has heard any gastric bypass failure stories from anyone toy may know. It crossed my mind and thought it would be an interesting topic.

I have a friend who had RNY about 10 years ago. She did great. Lost weight. But in about 3 years she started gaining until she had gained it all back.

At about 5 years after the first surgery she had a revision since her stomach had stretched out. She lost weight again just not as much as the first time and seems to be maintaining pretty well now just at a higher weight than the first go around.

I have read about the small % of it not working for some- like where the pouch has stretched out far too early and the person either gets it re-done or doesn't lose. I actually read a bio of a personal trainer's journey with this issue and how she fixed it!

A lady I work with regained all of her weight and maybe some extra. Now that I know more about WLS, I know that she was dumping. I would hear her throwing up in the restroom. When I asked her if she was ok, she told me it was from the surgery. I didn't realize at the time she was eating too much and eating sweets.

I know more people who have been successful than failed with bypass. They followed the program and look amazing.

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow VSG and it's a daily battle, but I know that it will be worth it in the end. Trying hard to stick to the plan. I'm always researching and trying to figure out what works for me. ????
