@@lovexciaral I think you are going to look great once the swelling goes down and your incision is healed up. The sides of your incision look a little higher than mine, but still should be covered by most panties, I imagine. How far around does your incision go in the back?

Not too far. Let me see if one of the pictures shows it.

@@lovexciaral Oh yeah. That's not too far at all. Mine goes almost all the way around, there's maybe a 4 inch gap around my butt crack (2 inches on either side). If I could do it over again, I'd want mine to me shorter like yours, because I think the fact that mine was almost circumferential really contributed to the soft-tissue swelling I had in my lower back afterward.

You are looking good. It take a while for the swelling to go down sometimes, but be patient and take it slow.

My swelling was a real complication that caused me a LOT of pain and kept me from working full time for about 4 months post-op. I couldn't lay on my back or sit up in a chair for any extended period of time because of the pain. The only comfortable position was lying on my side. Standing or exercising made the swelling much worse. It was due to the damage to my lymphatic system and the fact that there was only that little 4-inch space for Fluid to travel between the upper and lower halves of my body. It was like a bottle-neck and the fluid would just pool there. The worst of it lasted about 9 months. That was about when I was able to start seriously exercising again. And, like I said, I was only working half-days at work for about 4 months.

Thank you Jamie. This is why I know I'm not ready to do this...and may never be. I've had too many surgeries in my life to go through another potentially long recuperation. I don't like the sagging skin, but it's not bad enough to possibly endure these kinds of issues. I may feel differently a couple more years out. If so, I'll look into plastic surgery at that time but I am so sure that this is not the time to go ahead with this no matter how much I wonder what I'd look like with a flat stomach.

@@JamieLogical thanks for the response. I know what you mean. Mine doesn't really hurt, but it feels like I'm sitting against a lump. Mine is getting some better.

I also have swelling in my left foot since I had complications with my thigh lift. I didn't have any swelling at first, but I had a terrible seroma, and the third surgery on that area caused definite lymphatic disruption. I'm encouraged that yours cleared up after 9 months. My foot seems to be slightly better, and it's been three months. Honestly, most people wouldn't notice and it doesn't hurt, but I hate it!

My plastic surgeon gave me an extremely tight fitting compression garment and instructed that I wear it 24/7. I had to keep buying smaller sizes each time one would get smaller. This helped considerably with swelling for me.

Oh yeah. I was in compression garments forever it seemed like. The first one I had was so tight, it took two people to get it on me! But no amount of compression was going to do anything about the severe soft-tissue swelling in my back.

@@gowalking Despite my complication, I still think having my plastics was one of the best choices I ever made. I did eventually fully recover and now I have been just enjoying the results for the past 3 years and will be enjoying them for MANY years to come. Even while I was going through my extended recovery, I had no regrets. The results are just so amazing and my flat stomach is now probably my favorite part of my body. I NEVER get tired of feeling it and looking at it. It is amazing being able to put on any pants or dress and have them lie completely flat in front. I would say the one down-side is that it's hard to find pants that are tight enough in the waits for my tiny stomach, but wide enough in the hips/butt. It seems like if they fit my butt, they are too loose in the waist. Not the worst problem in the world to have though.

Two weeks post op today and finally back home. Had my surgery out of town and had to stay for a couple of appointments.

Has anyone else's dr had them just go purchase spanx rather than providing a compression garment?
