Usually it's only a couple weeks to hear back from your insurance company regarding approval. The surgery date is dependent on your doctor's schedule... could be days, could be months.

It took a few days for my insurance and then my surgery was scheduled about 3 weeks later.

I have completed all my requirements, 3mo weight management with my PCP, 3 mo bariatric/weight management classes, all my tests (EKG, Chest x-ray, blood work and Psych) and I have my Pre-op appt tomorrow! AND...I still don't have a date!!! I'm hoping to get one tomorrow!!! Fingers crossed!

I started in February and I had the main testing done then. It took me 2 weeks to get a psych consult (did it online), then I was able to do the official meet the surgeon meeting. After that March 10th, I assumed that I'd have to do the 3 mo weight management, but they were going to submit the application with my 4 yrs worth of weight watcher records. I got a call on March 25, saying I was approved! I was scheduled a couple days later for May 4th! I just did the pre-op seminar/class today. Less than 3 weeks!!!

Cigna GW Healthcare: I completed all my ins. requirements in a total of 5 months, 3 months (89 days between) of dietician/nutritionist classes, all my tests or labs (EGD, sleep Study results, Weight loss, Blood work & Psychologist appt)

After 4 months, the insurance only took about 5 days to deny my claim due to they required 89 days between my dietician classes, so I had to go to one more which only delayed it more, then she made me lose another 10 lbs on a shake only diet. Grrr

My doctor submitted my insurance claim again immediately, and I heard back within the week that I was approved. My doctor called the following week with the surgery date. Only waiting 3 wks. SURGERY IS NEXT WEEK!!! Yahoo!!! Can't wait!

Good luck with your journey!
