Hello all. My name is Tiffany. I'm 25 years old from western Massachusetts and mom to an amazing 9 1/2 month old son Dominic. (I'm so sorry if I'm doing this in the wrong place. Never posted in a forum like this) I have been obese as long as I can remember. It's really all I've known. Never being able to shop where my friends did, always feeling tired. Never good enough. In my own mind at least. I told myself when I was 18 that if I wasn't where I wanted to be with my health and weight loss by 25 I'd research weight loss surgery. After I had my son I realized this was what I had to do. I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with him, and I needed to be healthy for him. I went to a seminar and that was it. This was for me. I was ready for a life changing experience. I met with my surgeon and we decided on the sleeve. My beginning weight was 315 with a BMI of 50.8 though I'm sure I'm up a couple pounds since then. I got the go ahead from my PCP, cleared by the nutritional and psychologist. Insurance was figured out. Support groups attended. Then, came and went my final apt with my surgeon. I didn't go. Didn't call. Started eating everything in site. I don't know why I was doing this to myself. I've been preparing and changing. A couple weeks after I missed my appointment I had enough. I couldn't keep living like this, so .. I made the call. Shelly (the receptionist) was so happy to hear from me. We scheduled another support group. My pre op EKG and appointment, and again my final apt with my surgeon on March 25th. I'll get my surgery date then. I feel so much better about it. There's my story. I'm hoping to find friends and allies who can understand all the emotions, and feelings I'm going through. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading! Look forward to knowing you all!

Welcome to this forum! Thinking about the surgery is frightening, but, it sounds like you have done your research so you will be ready March25th.

Thank you! I think it was lack of support honestly. My fiancé is there for me but he doesn't really understand it all. I'm so glad I found this!

Welcome! Just remind yourself you did your research so you know what you're getting into. There's really no need to be worried as long as you follow your doctor's instructions.

Thank you guys! I've definitely researched enough for a couple lifetimes in these past few years. Will definitely stay updated and loving reading everyone's stories on here!

You have so much to gain by doing the surgery. Keep your eye on the prize.

It is scary but from everything I hear and read, it is worth it!

I am 72 hours out...yikes! Surgery is Tuesday a.m.

I am also in MA...metro-west area.....Where are you having your surgery, if I may ask?

Baystate medical in springfield. Dr. Blackman from pioneer valley surgical associates. Great to know someone close. 72 hours! Yay!

Hang in there, and was told you've done your research. Just breathe. Mine is in just over 1 weeks away, and I am keeping myself busy and occupied. By the way I am in the new haven ...

Thanks. Since I've gotten back in touch with my surgeon I'm ready. No second thoughts. I'm so excited for this new life. Pinterest is everything when finding meal ideas when I can have actual food.

I am from mass too..worcester area so went yo umass medical...I had surgery Friday and last night, my first night home..was rough but today after walking I feel so much better.

You are smart to get surgery at a young age..I am 50 and now have arthritis in both knees..wishing I had this done before they so bad!

Good luck and if you have a questions please let me know..I should be able yo answer so e because I am just ahead of you

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have been on this journey since October and finally got my surgery date. March 31st. It's coming up soon. I have had so many different emotions since I got the news I don't know what to do with myself. I keep telling myself you are going to do this and move on. Your not going to give up. But it is very intimidating. But at the end of the day I need this for myself. My starting weight was around 353. I am down around 327 right now. I can't wait to be on the other side of the circle. The losers circle. Lol. Good luck! You can do this!
