I got the sleeve 9 months ago and now i'm having gallbladder issues and it may need to come out.. anyone else have similar issues?

Nope but it's one thing I dread.

Had to have my gallbladder out about 2 months after surgery. Never had issues prior to surgery. Thankfully, I only had some discomfort (not a full blown attack). Surgery was a piece of cake...all in all, easier than the sleeve surgery. Good Luck!

I had my gallbladder out years ago after losing a bunch of weight on Slimfast. The doc told me then that it was a common side effect of rapid weight loss.

Mine was removed during my sleeve surgery. He said rapid weight loss causes issues and during the approval process for the sleeve we found out it needed to come out. Good luck, hopefully you figure it out without more surgery.

@Rocky1 No, I wasn't. I didn't have any history of gallbladder issues and neither did anyone in my family. I'm just glad I happened mentioned to the dr that I was feeling pressure on my right side and he checked it out. Three gallstones.

My doctor prescribes Actigall even if you have no history. He gives the script at the 2 week visit.

I wasn't given any drugs for gallstones post op. Just the anti-reflux stuff.

Many surgeons in the US prescribe ursodiol 500 or 600mg per day for 6 months give or take to reduce the incidence of gallstones. The clinical study results were quite impressive comparing the non Ursodiol vs Ursodiol groups.

My surgeon in Mexico said I should take it for 3-6 months post op. Two more capsules to sprinkle in Apple sauce.

I take it twice a day. My surgeon lets me swallow the capsule with warm Water and take with a little dairy such as cottage cheese or yogurt. The warm water softens the capsule and the dairy keeps in the stomach longer and buffers stomach. I only eat about 2 bites of the cottage cheese.

I had mine out 3 months after I was sleeved. I was rushed to hospital on a Friday, gallbladder was out that following Sunday, it was all very sudden and very quick. I am finally now getting back into the swing of things as I couldn't drive or lift anything for 5 weeks post op.

I am very independent and live alone, so having to rely on others to come and help me with normal daily duties was really hard. Now having been through all of that I can safely say that Im glad its out and that life is good!

So does mine. I have to be on it twice a day for 6 months. It was expensive the first month. Since then we've met our insurance deductible so I'm hoping that it's a better price for the next 5 months.

Update: I do need the gallbladder removed. I got 1 big stone and many little ones. It's scheduled for next month.

Good Luck! You'll do great. I was expecting the same muscles to hurt all over again (I was so close after the VSG surgery), but besides being a little stiff right under my ribcage, it didn't bother me at all.

i had my WLS in June 2014 and in January 2015 i had a large stone blocking my liver duct and had to have it removed and the next day they removed my gallbladder - they said it was possibly due to rapid weight loss - i am feeling so much better now! I didn't realize the issues that i was having were because of my gallbladder. I am glad it is out and i will never have that kind of pain again!

what kind of symptoms did you guys experience with the gall stones? I had the surgery just under 4 months ago and I want to know what kind of stuff to watch for ... I have heard those can be an issue and kidney stones due to people not getting enough Water.

For me, I just kept getting sick to my stomach all the time. I thought I just kept getting some sort of stomach flu or something. Then my back started hurting on my right side, about midway down my back. The ladies I work with all told me to call the doc because they bet it was my gallbladder. The doc thought that's what it was too, so sent me for a few tests. Three days later I was having surgery.
