Congrats! I am also almost a year out. Surgery was 2/4/15. Very pmeased with my progress. Best decision I ever made!
  2. Down70 lbs. since surgery. 90 since pre surgery diet. So happy and no regrets!
  3. Awesome feeling this morning. Put on a pair of capris I bought post surgery when my clothes first started to get too big and my husband said I don't like those anymore they are too big. Great feeling and the one time you don't mind your hubbie saying he doesn't like your clothes!
  4. Thanks everyone. Feeling awesome, just started experiencing some hair loss but other then that everything has gone very well. Now just waiting to get below 200. My next goal. Thanks alot for the support!

    Best scale

I just bought the one my local pharmacy, Walgreens, had. It works fine and matches the weight I am when I see the doctor.

    sleeve to gallstones

Mine was removed during my sleeve surgery. He said rapid weight loss causes issues and during the approval process for the sleeve we found out it needed to come out. Good luck, hopefully you figure it out without more surgery.

    Only losing 1lbs a day

I am 1 month 5 days post op and down 34 pounds since surgery. I was lucky enough to skip the 3 week stall but now it makes me even more anxious and nervous for when my first one hits. There are so many things that can affect this like everyone says...my doc has us on a full month of liquid which could be the reason I skipped the 3 week stall. Also I have quite a bit to lose. So many factors that change person to person. Anyway thankful for my progress, I really am enjoying this "honeymoon" stage.

    period during surgery

I was and was super nervous about it. Tell the nurse right away. They gave me a pad and some throw away panties. You can't wear yours in surgery. When you are out tell the nurses in the room when your transfered they don't give it a second though. They are use to this, we just aren't. They all were understanding and helpful. Another suggestion, bring your own pads for when you get to your room. I didn't like what they had.

    Liquid diet

I was on a clear liquid diet for 5 days then full liquid for the next three weeks. Today is my 1 month surgiversary and have finally went to soft foods. The first week was the hardest. Oatmeal was on my full liquid so that helped since the month felt like a year. I also have kids and seeing them eat in the beginning was torture. As the weight comes off and you see progress it all seems to gets easier to get use too! Good Luck you will be fine.
  18. Sleeved 2/4. Feeling pretty good. My boy started spring football so I have been walking the track while they practice. Feels great to be more active verse sitting on the sideline the whole time like I've done in the past. Kind of nervous to eat its been so long, anyone else feel like this? Good thing is getting protein from food, haven't done so well just liquids. Congrats on all those getting ready for surgery! Glad to be on the journey with those who are post-op! The best part is the loss of course: Starting weight 319 Surgery day 300 Today (1 month post) 271

    Fell off the Bandwagon

I heard a good tip for buffets. You should go last in your group, if your first up you will be finished first and tempted to go back.
  20. Oh...and a bath robe. You will have to walk the halls and the hospital robe is far from flattering :-)
  21. All I needed was clothes, chapstick, and a pillow (to hold over my stomach on the way home) phone/charger (also brought an extension cord which came in handy because of my back pain slept in recliner and needed the cord to reach my phone) anything else I packed I didn't use.
  22. I wish I would have been ready for the back pain I had after surgery. Not that there would have been anything I could do about it, I just I would have been mentally ready. The pain meds were a blessing. I have a bad back (arthritis) to begin with and laying on that operating table for 2 hours really messed me up.

    AM I CRAZY?!

I had similiar fears myself. Had my surgery 2/4 and it all went very well. My two teen boys were a tremendous help that first rough week of recovery. I thought of it this way, yes there are risks but staying heavy could kill us as well. I want to be around to be not only a good mom but god willing a good grandma as well and that outweighed the surgery risk for me in the end. Good Luck!
  24. I'm on liquids for a month. Can't wait till 3/4. Most people its seems to be just 2 weeks, I'm jealous

    Down 10lbs in 6 days

2/23 is my birthday. The first couple of days for me were painful. Mostly my back which I wasn't expecting. Could have been the time on the operating table or gas pains (or the unlucky timing of it being "that time of the month two days before surgery) but that was bothering more then anything. I was grateful for the pain meds. Be prepared to need plenty of rest and naps for the first week. It only took about 5 days to be pain free with the exception of any coughing or sneezing. Those were unexpected moments. Its great you will have your mom there. Suggestion... because I have kids as well and although I wasn't hungry at all for the first few days, eventually the liquid diet got to me and the hardest times were when my family was eating. Have your mom cook/feed them till you work through getting use to not eating. Tonight was the first time I cooked for them and the time away helped with the adjustment of not joining them. There have been some tough days physically and emotionally (and I'm sure more to come) but it is nothing us strong moms can't work through. After all its not forever and the goal is to be healthy and around a long time for our family. A couple of things that help me t hrough the "feeling blue" moments are looking at before and after pics and looking up some new receipes specifically for WLS. The pics are great motivation and the receipes help me to see that the meals in my future will be delicious and healthy!
