March 2015 Sleevers

Hi All! Had my surgery on Monday, 3/2. I know there were quite a few people in the pre-surgery area for March, so I figured I would start a thread for us in the post section.

Day 1 was tough - they really drugged me at the hospital. I'm super sensitive to medications, so when I woke up, I was completely disoriented and hysterical. They gave me more meds to call me down. I could barely keep my head up and eyes open the entire day. Around 3pm (surgery was at 8am), I was able to realize where I was and get my Water in and walk around. Keep my pain meds up as I wanted to stay ahead of the pain.

Day 2 I was still groggy and out of it, but more alert than day 1. Wasn't able to get as much water in with the small cups but using the restroom regularly, so I think all was well. Cut back on the medicine mid day - wasn't a good idea. Took the full dose to get to sleep.

Day 3 (today) feeling much better. Folded clothes, took the dog on several short walks and have been off the pain meds all day. Feeling fine!

The recovery hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Been doing my best to take my Vitamins and such and getting my water in. Also gonna hit the shower now that I'm feeling more with it.

How have you guys been that have sleeved this week?

@Naloyets I lost most of that over a year and almost 20 lbs during the pre-op diet (nothing but diabetic boost for two weeks). Since surgery I have lost three pounds. But I am feeling like you - wondering what's wrong with me when I see people losing 12 - 18 lbs in the first week.

I really am hoping it's just a premature stall. Did you have the same experience with losing weight pre-op?

I was sleeved on March 3rd ans my weight loss has stalled. I've been told if you don't get your protein and water in you won't lose. So today I am going to work really hard to get it in and see what happens

@@Madmax68 - I lost 15 lbs pre op - liquid diet for 2 weeks. I was thrilled but diet was hell. Then just the post op liquid. I also had the weird experience of getting my period day of surgery - not fun, so basically once surgical water weight and period weight left, I am down a total of 17 lbs. All in all nada since surgery 2 weeks ago. Like you bummed but hopeful.

I was sleeved March 4 also! I have only lost 7 lbs post-op. I am disappointed in that but trying to remain positive. My husband keeps telling me I look like I have lost a lot more. I am getting in over 100g Protein a day and plenty of Fluid so that is not the problem!

wow @@uni2424 we have almost identical weigh stats. I am a tiny bit taller but otherwise we could be twins. :) We began at the same weight and are at the same weight now and sleeved same day. Wow too much!!! :D

Hi Natalie! Thanks for posting - I was starting to feel like I was doing something really wrong - or something was weird with my body. I'm going to continue to be hopeful - keep me posted as to how you are doing :D

I was told too that during the healing process you may not lose much either. It'll pick up yall. We gotta have faith!!

Hey fellow sleevers! I had my procedure done on 3/9. Day 1 was rough. Every I took a sip of water I dry heaved, if I stood up I got dizzy, tried to take the oral pain meds and puked them back up. They kept me on my IV to keep me hydrated. I was there for 2 nights, 3 days. Found out my stomach cannot handle the liquid pain meds so they ended up just giving me pills and I have been fine. I can drink water and my protein drinks, I burp all the time, but I have never had gas pains. I did the 1 incision in my belly button and that is sore but the pain is almost gone. I slept for probably the first 5 days. I went back to work 1/2 days this week. I am also eating unsweetened applesauce and instant mashed potatoes. I was getting so hungry and weak I thought I was going to pass out of I tried the potatoes and they do the trick. I take very small bites and eat them slowly. I too have been emotional since my surgery.

@@trenana I was just saying today that I miss being able to chug water when I am really thirsty

@@changebeganthisyear My doctor told me I could slowly try soft foods if I felt up for it. I was getting so weak and sick that I finally had to try something and it made me feel so much better. I take tiny bites and do not eat a lot at all. But the little bites are enough for me.

Hi March sleevers! Mine is scheduled for March 31st, and it still seems like an eternity waiting! Keep your posts coming, and I'll let you all know how I make out. Can you also post how much weight you lose each week? I'm curious to see how much weight we can potentially lose on a weekly basis. Thanks!
