pre-op liquid diet, commence....

Hello! I am new to the forum and scheduled for gastric sleeve on 3/16/15.

Today is day one of my all liquid/protein shake diet for two weeks.

I have chosen Isopure whey Protein, unflavored and almond milk. I also have Premier Protein and the Isopure liquid pre made beverages.

I will probably stop by the store and get some sugar-free pop cycles, Jello and broths tonight.

I was wondering if there was anybody who was starting their pre-op diet or have started already and had any tips/tricks for adherence.

Thanks!

@@cockapoomom I had lentil soup with the lentils and veggies on Thursday..... I had the worst head cold and was stuck at work for 16 hrs and couldn't imagine trying to muster energy with nothing for my body to break down. I swear we all do it - some just make it seem like it's unheard of lol

@Shell88. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one :). At least we made healthy choices instead of the alternative.

I just put a big bowl of sugar free Jello to chill in the fridge for popcorn.

A close friend who had sleeve said she cheated almost everyday including in and out burger and chick filet and her surgery went great. She's now a size 4/6 if you can believe it, but she was small to begin with just at about 200 lbs.

I meant to say for jello in fridge for tomorrow.....I have popcorn on the mind, been craving it for days LOL.

I had lentil soup too but I'm allowed one small meal a day

@@heav85, on pre op liquid I have lost 12 lbs so far. Total since I started dieting in August with my surgeon and Nutritionist - 40lbs

Wow since August I was down. 7 back up 5 now since I started this pre op a week ago I'm down 5. How long you been on pre op

@@cockapoomom thats all I keep thinking! I see a lot of these diets with one small meal, and how bad can lentils or veggies be for you?? We've got this - we're doing a lot better than some, and our choices are not in the least bit horrible... though I could have went for a dominos pizza yesterday at work lol.

@@heav85 I started my journey August 22nd, injured myself in November a week before pre op liquid and had my surgery postponed. I began liquids on Feb 26th. 4 days to go!!!!!

I can have a small bit of protein and I'm allowed Greek yogurt, soup, sugar free pudding and jello. I've been having that. I'm down 8 pounds since last week.

So my in laws are taking us out to a Mexican restaurant or bdubs tomorrow and it will be day 9 of my pre op. I'm allowed one meal a day consisting of 2 Oz of meat and a salad. I think I may pull out my bariatric diners card and get a small meal. They have black bean burgers at bdubs. May try one of those

@@heav85 that's awesome enjoy i start my pre op diet the 16th I'm only allowed my liquids and certain vegetables i will make the best of it

Day 5 now and I have cheated once by eating broccoli. That was on day 3. I am only allowed clear sugar free liquids and protein shakes. I don't have a problem with feeling hungry all the time....just fighting old habits of putting something in my mouth at any opportunity. I'm just craving something to CHEW now. I have lost 11 pounds in 5 days on this preop diet. Got many more days to go.

I'm starting day 9. I'm not really hungry just miss eating big meals. I'll make it though. I know I will be able to eat again lol
