  1. So, I gained a total of 45 lbs back from my post op total, which was a total loss of about 115 lbs. I feel awful. My stomach feels huge. I’m grabbing it with both hands and it literally just disgusts me. Soon after my surgery I had an Appendectomy followed by having my gall bladder out about 3 months after the appendix. This resulted in the consumption of a lot of pain medicine as I’ve struggled with opioid addiction for about 10 years, it really got worse after my three abdominal surgeries in one year about a six month time frame. Well, I eventually checked myself in for recovery and have been on suboxone for about a year. The problem is that I eat too many sweets. In fact it’s the majority of what I eat. Eating protein makes me sick, in fact I can eat about a few bites of protein and feel full. But then I’m hungry again so I’m snacking sweets. I don’t know what’s wrong with me or what to do, but I don’t want to have revision surgery. I’ve started working out, intensive cardio, anaerobic exercise but I can’t lose weight anymore even with the workouts. I feel hopeless and at this rate bound to be back up to 300 lbs. I know a girl who I inspired to get weight loss surgery and she started where I was same weight and wears a size 8/10 now. I’m so sad that she killed it on her first year I’m a complete failure at three.
  2. Downward trend stopped right at about the beginning of December 2016 and after weighing in after weeks of avoiding the scale (yup guilty slider foods w/ coffee) and I knew I was gaining I could feel it yet would not and still cannot stop / slow down and get back on the right path. I never imagined after losing so quickly and so easily it would end and I'd again start gaining but no more lying to myself in the river of denial. I'm a food junky and always will be! What am I going to do? I'm always hungry! It's like an insatiable hunger that only stops when my pouch is full and pouch only gets full when I eat protein/veggies but why do I continue eating the slider type foods that provide no satiation what so ever!? I try to blame my 10-11 hr work shifts, the fact that I'm just a "sugar addict" and can eat my sweet and salty snacks as long as I don't eat meals! No wonder I'm gaining!!! How does one get back on track!? Am I alone in my current misery!? My stomach is feeling awful again, I'm feeling tired and stressed - all the old feelings are coming back after 2 years of successful weight loss over a hundred pounds!
  3. Lord have mercy! When I hit a size 14 my credit card bills said "stop the madness!!!" I literally shop til I drop with no regard to finance same as I was eating. I've realized this and going back to basics with both eating and spending habits, practicing some discipline and awareness instead of the gratification of instantaneous feel goods like the caveman inside of me running rampant with a credit card and Starbucks frappaccinos hand in hand [emoji23]
  4. Good for you! I thought I knew it all and was home free to eat what I wanted....hahaha the lies we tell ourselves! I'm back on protein and starting from scratch before a revision. Curious about it however, I long for the days of wasted weight flying off like gang busters lmao!

I failed at going hardcore liquid but to each his own. Others have succeeded I've read in this thread and online other forums. Simple enough but what worked for myself was just hitting protein again. After my usual coffee in the AM, I had an omelette with ham and it kept me satisfied until I did a half protein bar when I felt the sweet tooth then the other half of the protein bar later on. Finally I had some meat for dinner and a yogurt for dessert. I was full all day and felt satisfied never got hungry. My stomach feels good this morning and I feel leaner, not as bloated as I had the previous days on slider foods. It's only been one day but I'll keep you posted as things evolve.

Thanks again everyone for helping me by taking the time to communicate your experience with a weight re-gain and how to successfully reset my mind and way of eating. I think perhaps for me, personally, liquid only, at this late stage of surgery left me starving buy the end of the day and resulted in a complete lack of control where I impulsively tossed back whatever carbohydrates I had available in the house during the evening which continued up until about bed time (grazing sliders) until falling asleep. That was the night before I became aware of the fact I was returning to the previous food addicted behaviors thus prompting me to reconnect to BariatricPal and look within to make the conscious effort to stop thwarting my efforts to succeed because after all I am my own destiny. Today I did great. Even at night I had a corn tortilla with Swiss as my snack and that was the only carb I had outside a yogurt with granola. Everything else I consumed was Protein and limited to a very small portion each at morning, lunch and dinner. While some may have the discipline to stick with liquids I'm not strong enough yet don't doubt its effectiveness since I lost 20 lbs presurgery during the "liver shrinking preparedness" stage. I take all feedback here as healthy constructive and even the debate I find helpful. James, I too make my own whipped cream, glad to hear it's "legal" as it is one of my guilty pleasures in the AM hours in the office as well as my afternoon slump resurrection [emoji23]. Anybody with other suggestions or who are experiencing what I've been experiencing chime in! Perhaps we could lean on each other for support and motivation.

What an amazing supportive group of woman all of you are! Thank you! Today I went back to basics but not the hardcore broth and water diet I think I tried to do a week ago in order to "reset" my pouch. My pouch is still tiny it's hat I've been stuffing it with slider food and not eating meat / protein or doing 3 meals a day. Today I did my egg omelette with a bit of shaved ham, lunch a protein bar and dinner I'm gonna have some cooked steak water all day! I feel full and satiated and full of energy. Funny how that works! Lmao.
  8. Hey I'm 2 years out just about and put back 20 so far. I've doing the slider food thing sugar and carbs and yuck I feel hideous! I'm still about 90 lbs thinner than when I started this journey but I am 60 lbs to my goal weight. How I am having a hard time because I'm so damn hungry all the time [emoji23]
  9. I put Tabasco sauce on everything and loathed it previously
  10. I tried on a dress at Anne Taylor and the XXL was too big on me. The did not have any XL or Large and the Medium was way too small, but I was like, wow. I can wear stuff in this store lol. I am about a 16 and it's hard to not buy huge tops. Weird dressing this new smaller version of myself when at top weight was a 26/28. Feels damn good.
  11. Hi - year on 3/16. I'm down from about 300 to 218 lbs. I haven't lost a pound since about Thanksgiving. I had my gall bladder out and was extremely addicted to Pain pills from about Sept 2015 to Jan 2016 when the docs stopped writing scripts. I was drinking a lot of alcohol and just gave up on eating regular food (Protein & veggies) and pretty much just lived on sweets and carbs. Maybe yogurt and milk in my coffee. Pretty pathetic. I'm in recovery now, and trying to really cut out carbs and refined sugar, eat more protein and Fiber (veggies and soluble fiber). I won't even go see my surgeon because I'm embarrassed. I don't exercise but my partner and I will be moving to a different city soon with access to jogging / biking trails right out our new house. Anyway, I hope it's not too late for me. I have not gained back but the "honey moon" phase is over. I can eat more than I used too when it comes to carbs. Oddly, they don't make me full, only when I eat meat is when I'm stuffed. I hate meat lol. But, back on track and getting healthy again. I'm seeing a counselor about my addictions and hope all of us 1 year anniversary gals who kinda just stopped losing short of our goals will persist and succeed! Prayers to you all.

    Gallbladder question

Surgeon did recommend laxatives which I've taken now two days in a row and they seem to be working, although they do seem hard on my body to tolerate. I'll pick up some MoM @@cindi gant @@Kindle glad you recovered quickly, I'm not in agony, but for the first few days it was rough. I too am eating so much better without the gallbladder! It's a complete change. I'm going back to work Thursday . My sister said two girls with the sleeve had gall bladders out last year from her office. Beginning to see a trend here. I also had appendix out 2 months after sleeved surgery, no more abdominal surgeries for me please!

    Gallbladder question

Had my gallbladder out on 11/20. Something about the rapid weight loss causes gallstones I heard. I'm supposed to return to work in 4 days, it's been about 6 days since surgery. I haven't pooped in like over a week. Even with laxatives. My follow up is In 3 days. I'm finally eating again though. For about 6 weeks I was not eating hardly and my weight loss stalled because of this (surgery day 3/2015). Anyway I heard a lot of women getting gallstones after sleeve. My problem now, aside from constipation, is a weird pain in my incision area where I think the gallbladder used to be. The incisions look great, but I have this pulling/pressure feeling. I just keep popping more pers though, hopefully the doctor will know what it is. Oh well, all the best and hope everybody recovers!
  14. I am so disappointed in myself. I have gone from 290 date of surgery, March 16 2015 down to 235 as of today. The scale has not moved in 3-4 weeks. I eat about 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day. I'm not consistent with Protein or Water. I am failing myself. My stressful job keeps me occupied about 9am - 7pm. I don't exercise much, but am active on the weekends. I drink alcohol on the weekends, maybe 4-5 drinks a night, vodka and sugar free cranberry juice. I had my appendix out in late June and was out of commission for a couple weeks. My doctor already thinks I'm a failure, he said I'm not doing as good as other women have he has sleeved. I dread seeing him, it's always a lecture, statistics shoved down my throat and I end up feeling like a failure for getting sleeved and still being obese. Anyway, I would like some suggestions. I am starting to log my intake into MyFitnessPal and be mindful of what I am consuming. I've set a limit if 1,000 calories. Any motivating tips or encouragement would be appreciated. Anybody with similar stories who turned their ship around out there? Any advice, feedback or even tough love will be invited. I really want to hit my goal of 160 lbs, but doctor doesn't think I will based on statistics of my current weight loss and what I'm "trending". Hugs!
  15. Great idea @@maggie409! During breaks I am going to walk up and down the stairs from the 4th floor where I work. Usually I just stay planted in my chair and browse the web or even sneak out for coffee. The alcohol I know must end. It's not good for my mental health in addition to the empty calories. Last, I am going to take your advice and eat stage 2 for a week. I have Isopure in my desk, I just loathe that taste but I think being thinner and reaching my goals are more important to me than an icky tasting drink. Thanks for taking the time to respond! I will keep this thread posted on my progress. Hugs!

    Drink/eat simultaneously? Question...

If I drink with a meal I get the slimes. It's awful. Don't do it. What they say is true. It causes discomfort, gas, spit up and heart burn. I'm 3 months and having a hard time eating slow. My boyfriend and I have a bad habit of eating our meals while standing in the kitchen talking. I was always a fast chower and learning to take small bites and eat my meal over the course of thirty minutes is difficult for me to grasp.
  17. Congratulations! I am three months out and down 40 lbs since surgery. Total loss, 60 lbs. I feel a tremendous weight has been lifted! I can fit better in chairs, cross my legs, run up and down stairs, wear shorts and t-shirts again and overall just hold my head up high with confidence and grace. I'm so thankful and just can't believe this has all taken place over the course of just a few months. Today my boyfriend made a roast and potatoes. I literally ate about 3-4 bites of meat soaked in au jous, about 4 mushrooms, and a quarter potato and was near sick. Before we dug in I remembered those days when I could devour 10 oz. of meat and cup of potatoes, dinner rolls and still have room for a beer and dessert, but I wouldn't trade that old tummy for the way I feel now. I still cheat and snack on Cookies here and there, but I completely cut out sweet beverages and the portion sizes are what most people consider there first bite LOL. Anyway, the first week will be tough, you are going to learn how to adjust to this surgery and experience a lot of discomfort. I promise it only lasts about 9 days. Jus sip Water and your broth or whatever else Clear liquids you can handle. I'm really excited for you, I wish I could start all over again just because I loved all the TLC my boyfriend and sister gave me when I got home LOL....and the pain meds. But I'm weird like that!
  18. Ok, weird question. Prior to surgery when I was at my heaviest weight, my periods became light and nearly non existent. This is my first cycle since surgery and its the heaviest and most uncomfortable period I can remember in years. My cramps and bloating are a complete nuisance and the sad thing is I can't take Advil! I am down about 45 lbs. and wonder if maybe it's just my body getting back on track. Any ideas or similarities?
  19. Okay, I've done super terrific on my post and pre op diet. I'm down nearly 45 lbs! Today at work in our cafe they had these brownie/peanut butter/cookie things. Now mind you they were "gluten free". I had a terrible dessert craving/addiction pre surgery. My husband and I were dessert connoisseurs and I loved to bake. It was lunch time and I was hungry so I went for it. I cut off a sliver, about the size of a half dollar at lunch and was fine. I boxed the rest up and meant to give the rest to my husband later that night. Turns out he had to stay out of town one more night and I found myself alone, hungry, tired and unprepared for dinner. Anyway, I got into the brownie cookie and one thing led to another and I found myself with an empty wrapper and terrible feeling afterward. I got dizzy, my heart was beating oddly and then I became terribly nauseated and eventually threw up and sick to my stomach. Well, let's just say it was a hard lesson learned and I'm in bed now but I have a question. Why did this happen? Is it because I've restricted myself from sugar for so long?

    Last meal before pre-op diet

More like last meal(s). LOL! We had Pappasittos, a Mexican restaurant here in Texas with margaritas, fajitas, queso, guacamole...the works. Another night we had Papadeaux, a Cajun seafood joint and I did a Long Island Icetea, fried catfish, shrimp, fries and a slice of cheese cake. Our very last meal, the night before pre-op was at Eddie V's steakhouse and I went full on hog wild. Oysters, vodka martinis, salad, filet mignon, blueberry cobbler and an after dinner brandy. You'd think I was being executed on death row or something. Get ready for a major change however. I'm 5 weeks out and stomach says no more after about a 1/4 cup of anything. Binging on food days are long gone and I can't say that I miss it one bit! It's so true that whatever hormone comes out with the stomach portion that is removed reduces hunger and desire to eat tremendously. Congratulations on your decision and good luck on preop.

    Regret

Chin up and stay strong. I promise, I was right there with you 5 weeks ago and now I'm an unstoppable machine! The first week sucked for me too but about 10-12 days in I noticed a huge improvement. Best of luck and don't look back. Soon you will see the results. Old clothes that didn't fit look cute now and I'm fully energized. Just be patient and stay positive, this too shall pass!
  22. It gets better I promise!!!!! I am only 5 weeks out and had the same doubts you are experiencing. Let me tell you I have so much energy now and can go strong all day at work, come home and continue kicking ass then into the weekend continue beast mode on housework and entertaining. It's almost like I'm on speed or something, I can't describe it. Barely hungry and only tired after I've absolutely spent myself completely from 7am to 10pm, then I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed! The best is yet to come, you will see!
  23. Well, it's week three and I'm not eating nearly enough as I should. Eating has become revolting to me and I can barely stomach my Protein drinks, usually tossing half. I'm probably eating about 30 - 40 grams of protein if I'm lucky. I am getting plenty of fluids however, prob not near the 64 oz. recommended. I'm tired, but not exhausted, however no energy or desire to do cardio. To top it off the scale says I've gained 3 lbs in one day but I've virtually been living off Water, decaf green tea and Isopure liquid. What gives? Also, how soon can/should I begin cardio?
  24. Hi boys and gals, I just got home from getting sleeved and let me tell you the experience was by far a crazy and far out trip. First of all, I really wasn't prepared to get 6 punctures into my belly and being filled up with air to have my stomach reduced and how it would feel afterward. The honest truth is during the hospital stay of one night, arrival 7:30 am and went home next day 3pm, I had liberal free way use of a dilauded (sp.?) pump that was also dripping .02 percent cocktail the entire time. I was fine laying in bed and not feeling much pain or discomfort until barely being able to get to the bathroom to change sanitary pads and pee (yes lucky me - Aunt P came to visit). The beginning was a blur, I know people were helping me and were very sweet and caring. Eventually about 8-9 pm I was able to get around the room by myself to go to bathroom (boyfriend went home at 10pm to take care of dog and work next day). All through the night I was pretty self sufficient with my button, but the nurses kept me on a lot of anti nausea medicines through the IV and a anti gas / acid solution the next morning, plus the pain pump, I thought I'd just breeze right through this. Now I'm in bed with my sweet sister. My throat is definitely sore and hoarse, I have a little air in my tummy that won't go away and the stab wounds in my stomach are very dull and achey. I feel icky and have been getting up to burp and sip Water. I tried sipping Isopure grape clear liquid but it was disgusting. Nurse says drink lots of water which is what I'll try to do. Let me just say this is a major deal and if I knew I'd have to have surgery to stop being obese, I would have never got fat to begin with! Well wishes and many thanks to night nurse and day nurses at Saint David's in Austin, TX.
