Question... Newly banded!

Newly banded 1-26-14 and am doing well gas has finally subsided but has anyone ever had a horrible pain right below the rib cage right up above the port site? it hurts so bad to even take deep breaths or moving the wrong way?

Hey there! I'm glad you're doing well! Bi understand about the gas...mine was awful too! I don't know about that exact pain you're describing but I've had pains in the same area except on the left...above the actual band. Sometimes it's shooting pains and feels like a baby kicking. My doctors office said that it was probably just "healing" of all the tissue and fibers that were messed with during surgery. That would be my guess for your painful area above the port site. Maybe that specific area was touched or rubbed inside your stomach.

mine hurt for about a month

I had my surgery the day after you and I actually had the same pain last night. It went away after awhile...I just tried to rest/ relax. I'm not sure if it was healing or a gas pain but it was gone several hours later :)

The good news is the pain will go away as you lose weight.if I understand right the way you're describing your pain, it is swelling around The port. It will probably help if you keep your back straight when you are sitting. practIce good posture.
