I had my sleeve completed yesterday!!! It was a pretty icky four or five hours after surgery for me in terms of how I was feeling. However I slowly started feeling better last night and so far today ( I know it is only 7:30am) I am doing pretty good! Not much nausea or pain (although they are giving me nausea meds through my IV every eight hours). I do have a pain pump, but I have really only had to use it when I get up to ambulate, as I am pretty tender. I have not had hardly any gas pain, just a lot of burping. The ice chips have tasted good, but I have to be sure to suck on them slowly or Ms. sleeve lets me know she is not happy. I got my foley catch out this morning and I am done with my oxygen too! I have been trying to walk every hour as that seems to help with my burping. Today is the first day that I will be trying some clear liquids. That is what I am most nervous about, making sure I am able to meet my requirements without making myself nauseated or sick. I am supposed to go home tomorrow, and yes I am nervous about that too because I do not want to get dehydrated! I wish all the rest of you the best of luck with your upcoming surgeries :). I will eventually post some before and after pictures and will keep you all updated on my progress.

Why do different doctor's have different pre-op diets for everyone? I have been seening post of people being able to eat food, and some of us have to have nothing but liquid diets for two weeks. I have been on liquids for one week now, and it has not been hard, but then I see some people being able to have shakes and eat on meal a day. What is the difference? :(

I am waiting to schedule but planning either March 30 or 31. Would love to have a March support group and go through this together

I'm March 31 in TJ and my dr. Is dr. Lopez through bariatric pal

@@tlemieux220 Yea I've noticed the same as well . My doctor does the pre op based on BMI if your under a BMI OF 47 your on

stage 1 which is unlimited fruits and veggies, 4-6oz of Protein, 3-4 servings of starchy carbs, 64oz of Water and 2 servings of low fat dairy

Stage 2 for over 47 BMI is 5 shakes a day and 1 lean green meal. ..

Thank you for sharing, its so encouraging!

It's 10:33 Tuesday night of march 10, 2015 and in the morning I begin my new life! I am so nervous and scared, I just don't know how this is going to go for me. The not knowing is really hard for me. Everyone has such different pain amounts and sickness, so I just don't know how my body will react so that makes me scared. Well good luck to me!

I'm scheduled for March 19th. Still pretty excited, but I know that I have some serious nerves just below the surface. Hopefully I can keep them in check.

That makes me feel a little better, just been feel a little out of sorts lately. 1st week on pre op was great, but this 2nd week is kicking my butt. I feel weeker then I did last week, even though I am doing the samething. I just can't wait for next Tuesday to get here and I get this over with. Thanks

@newgirlfrommd. I started my journey in Baltimore before i moved to nj so I've been at it since July. Where are you going?

So excited that I got my surgery date today, March 31st! My husband had his on March 5th, so I'm happy to start the journey with him and all of you! The best to every March Sleever.

I had my surgery on Monday, March 9. It was a lot easier than I had imagined. But I am a worrier. My surgeon also repaired a hiatal hernia. When I got to my room I was having some pain from the hernia. They gave me some pain medicine. After that I have had very little pain. I have 5 small incissions. I havenot been nausiated at all. I know everyone is different and our bodies react differently. I came home today. Overall I would say it was a lot less stressful than I thought it would be. I have a little soreness but that is expected. Not bad for a 66 year old woman. Nurses and staff were awesome. So trust in your Dr and hospital staff. I only hope all of you have as good an experience ad I did.

I am having mine at University of Maryland Medical Center. Where did you have yours?
