  1. Let's do this. I have my first Nut apt 04/22 and a knee replacement on 04/24, so my husband is going to help me with my eating when I get home from the hospital. I still have about 50-60 lbs to go to my goal weight. So I just have to stay focused and do everything I can do. I don't want to get back to where I was, so I am going to do everything in my power to do it.
  2. Thank you guys so much. This makes lots of since, especially since I am going to be down for a while.
  3. I need help! I am out 4 years now, went back to the doctor yesterday after 3 years. I too am struggling with my eating habits. Since my last weigh in with him I only gained 1 lb in 3 years, but by my records I am up 15 lbs and don't want to get back where I was. Any suggestions on what I should try eating, he put me on a 50 gram carbs and the rest is protein. I don't see the nut until 04/22/19 right before my knee replacement, so I want to see if I can take off the 15 prior to that.

I am interested in the list if possible. I no longer have access to my NUT due to insurance reasons. Thank you so much... If it would be easier you can email me at tlemieux220@gmail.com.

Can anyone help. the other thing is that I cannot see my surgeon or ny NUT anylonger do them not being covered by my insurance as of this year. Right now I am at 195 lbs.

    Stuck for 3 months

I'm almost 14 months out now, and I still track every single bite of food, probably will the rest of my life because I like the accountability. I hit my Protein target every day. I might have some days I go over on fat or carbs, but they are rare. I now exercise 6 days a week, walk/jog 5+ miles a day (today I did 9 miles total) and do yoga and bodyweight routines 3x a week as well. In the summer, I'll swim 5+ days a week and go biking. I actually enjoy exercise now, and I get antsy and sad when I can't go out and hit the trail. So weird! I never thought I'd be at the point I'm at now, but I worked hard to get this far. It sounds like you expected your sleeve to all the work for you. That's not how it works. You get a limited amount of time where you don't feel horribly hungry all the time, and the restriction helps you adjust to eating small portions. But the main thing you should be doing after surgery is relearning how and what to eat - healthy stuff - but protein first is the mantra. With the weight loss, you should start feeling more energetic and able to exercise and also feel good enough to get a decent exercise routine established before the honeymoon period of about 12-18 months ends. After that point, the weight loss will stop as your body will have adjusted its metabolism to your smaller portions and activity level, and if you didn't get healthy eating habits and exercise figured out, you will possibly regain weight. And while exercise is great for overall health, it has a small effect on weight loss. The way you lose weight is controlling how much and what you eat. It is the most important thing to figure out and really pay attention to, because while exercise will help build muscle, stamina, increase your bone strength and make you feel better... it is almost impossible to exercise enough to counteract a consistently poor diet. You definitely need to go back to the beginning. Protein first, then veggies, and then if there is any room complex carbs. Find an app to track food and exercise. Log every single bite, and get a food scale and measure the food until you get the hang of it, so you're not guessing. Find out from your NUT what your calorie goal should be at this point. Set up goals to drink 64 ounces of Water, get at least 80 grams of protein (unless your NUT tells you more) and keep your carbs under 100 grams/daily. Try to start a basic exercise of some kind 2X a week that you actually can enjoy and slowly work up to doing more. Once you know what and how much you are eating and see where you might be eating wrong things, you can come back here and get help on food, recipes and other specifics. It will be hard since you will be starting over, but if you can get all of this going and get yourself back on track (and tracking) then you will be well on your way to losing weight and getting, but more importantly staying healthy for the rest of your life. Good luck! Thank you for this information. I too am going to do this. I have been stuck for 3 months now and my one year anniversay is coming up and I would like to hit 70 lbs by then I am hoping for, I know I can do it.

    Calorie intake

How many carbs are you having per day? I am stalled and have been for 3 months and would like to start losing again, my husband just had surgery last week and I thought it would help me restart, but I still haven't lost any more weight. And here is the kicker I am no longer able to see my surgeon or nut because they are no longer in my insurance group.

    The truth is, I failed

Okay, I have not been on here for a while myself and I have only lost 48 lbs in 9 months myself, but as of 1/1/16 I decided I am not going to do this anymore. I did this for a reason, and that reason was to feel better about myself. I have done a lot of soul searching and I know I self sabatage myself, and maybe that is what you do too. Here is were we will be held accountible and I am glad to be back. Iook foward to seeing how I do as well. So AmyFromCincy please keep going and don't lett want we did be in vain. We can do this. I have another 65 lbs to go and I am glad to see I am not the only one in this situtation. Please keep me posted on how you do.
  12. I don't ask myself yet you did it, I ask myself why not. It's easy you did it because it was there. You were able to eat it because it was in your house. You, just like the rest of us need to make sure it is not that easy to access. I know for Thanksgiving we are going out to eat and I am going to make a small meal for my family on Sunday. When everyone leaves I will make sure they take everything with them except for the leftover turkey. If you want to eat give yourself permission to do so. And don't beat yourself up we have done this for years and it is what got us here in the first place.

    Halloween Challenge!

As of today 196.4 Yea.... So excited.
  15. I had on my bucket like to be able to walk up and down the stairs with out having to hang on and hold everyone up. I am now finally able to do this, my next thing on my list is to be able to get back on a bike and ride it, even if it is just at the gym. We have already planned a cruise for next December 2016, and I want to be able to wear a dress where I don't have to wear spanks.

    Halloween Challenge!

Still 197.4 this week, but going back to the gym, I am hoping this will start to move, but on the other hand, I am almost able to get into a size 16, which is really exciting for me.
  17. I am 6 mos out and I have these feelings everyday. I still want to eat the Pasta and breads, and sweets, come on be honest, we all have these cravings. I still do have a bites of these foods every once in a while, if you tell yourself you will not eat these foods, you are setting yourself up to fail again. Yes, some of us will be able not to touch these foods, but for a bigger part of us this is not reality, but we still have to make choices everyday. If we choose to eat a bite of bread, or not it is up to you. We are the ones in controll of what we eat and put into our mouths, but you also have to make the choice not to over eat it as well. I am very proud of what I have done in these 6 month, and I hope whatever you choose to do that you make these choices for yourself and not on what others tell you is right for you, because none of us are experts. We are only here to support these choices.

    Week 7 GAINING!

I am 6 months post op, and was on a server stall for 06/02/15 I was at 208, and 07/13/15 I was at 203 at this time my Nut didn't like it and wanted me to be seen monthly, however I now have a new Nut and like her much better. I also had a car accedent 2 day before my weigh in and cannot excersie. As 8/6/15 I was 199.6 I was as of yesterday my scale started to move again, I am now 197.6 and have lost 6.5 inches around my hips, 7 around my waste, 2 inches on my chest, and no longer have a double chin, so just because you are not losing on the scale doesn't mean you are still not losing. This is really hard and sometimes you may think that you are not doing great, and don't see progress, if you take your inches you will see it. Right now you are still thinking that you are failing, you need to get out of your own head. We all have been there. I was there for two months, but I am back on track and hope to be 70 lbs lighter by my birthday 12/17. That will be my 9 month post op. Good Luck everyone.

    What do you tell people?

I could not agree more with what you have to say. I use to belong to a FB support group, but decide it was not for me, because everyone wanted to be so secret. One day I happened to like a quote someone posted and I took it and posted on my wall and it was a wonderful quote, I wanted to share it with all my friends and family. They all know about my WLS and one of them got really upset, so I decided to leave the group. I just told her this was not my cup of tea. At least here we can be as open or secretive as we all want to be..

    What do you tell people?

I fully understand this, I was not sure at the time if I was going to tell people and I had a person try to talk me out of it, she does Shakelology and I told her it was not for me, and now she is happy for me and sees what I have accomplished. Different things for different folks. The one thing is I will not preach to people if they want information I will give it to them for what they decide to do.

    What do you tell people?

This is a very Hot topic, and everyone is different. I am very open with everyone, my philosophy is this, if you are comfortable with the decision you made it doesn't matter what others thing about WLS. If you feel like you want to keep it to yourself then that is who you are. My family and friends all know and so do my coworkers, and I am okay with that. If they look at me funny, I just remind them I am human and I am going to have set backs, I am no different than anyone else. This was a decision we all made to get healthier then we were before, we are all going to have our ups and downs trust me I have in the last 5 months, but I don't let that hold me back. and I am a stress eater and know that, so I have fallen off and started going back to my old habits, but I figured it out. I am for the first time in 14 years under 200 lbs as of today. I know I would not have been able to do this with out WLS and my family they are my biggest support. I my kids help me stay on track they can see when I am full and remind me of that at dinner time. If you don't have this support we are all here for you as well. I find this place a very conforting place to come when I am down or when I have a success.
