Lap Band Post Op Day 8

I am 8 days post op and and feel really good! 10 lbs gone, mostly fighting head hunger, and starting to go bananas on full liquid. What did everyone do to get through this phase? I feel like I'm breaking down more and more everyday.....will I really screw everything up if I have some cottage cheese or canned tuna?? Need encouragement????

  • Hang in there. It gets easier. I had six weeks of full liquids after LapBand. I just found the best soups money could buy. Lost 50 pounds before my first fill at six weeks post op. You can do it!

  • "Oh, by the way--JustWatchMenwhat are the best soups you found?" JustWatchMen ... I like that name too!!

This made me laugh out loud. It made me remember all of the puréeing I did in those first few weeks. You're right. It all looked like crap, but it was delicious.

Yes I'm now 10 days out and only fighting "head hunger". I now truly understand what that means. I have not really had any physical hunger yet. I really hope it stays that way!! Today is my first post op. I'm down 13 pounds.

Ha ha! Its funny you said sorry (it got posted twice!) for the multiple identical posts! hee hee...

Im now 9 days out, found some papers with recommended dietary guidelines for these transitions.

AM enjoying slowly bringing in foods like cottage cheese and chicken in chicken Soup, vegetables.

Still making Shakeology chocolate Protein shakes and shared half a banana a while ago. Wowza.

food tastes good but it is slowly becoming something I think less about for enjoyment and more about nutritional quotas. That said, Im in Mexico and though there is food EVERYWHERE on every corner, i

mostly has something todo with a tortilla or other corn based bread product and meat so its easy to stay away cuz those would not feel good right now Im sure!

Maybe its easier to do he post surgery adjustment here and then i Costa Rica vs the USA. Especially when, where Im from on th eEast Coast, they are about to be hit with mega storm and the fun thing to do when locked in side is eat yummy things. REmoved that temptation!

I see doc again on Friday and leave to CR on Saturday at the crack of dawn. Exciting!!

I'm 25 pounds down since I started my prep on Jan 1 and surgery on Jan 15! Feeling great but I want to chew food. Lol

Preparing myself to multiple post again????. How fun to recover and vacation at the same time! When do you head back?

And 25 pounds down? That's awesome!! I'm day 13 post op down 14. I've been slow to advance my diet. Still mostly liquid. So tired of soup ????

Head back March 1- hopefully down another bit before I return and fully back to solids (3 cups a day of mostly Protein n veggies. Though last two days Ive experimented with new foods- delicious and as long as i eat slowly, stay away form breads/starches and not alot, seems I can eat anything (so far). But Im very very cautious. I think Im healing faster b/c I was a pretty healthy eater before this and also moved alot (biking and dancing and swimming etc...)perhaps the active lifestyle before hand has helped me to heal faster. NOt sure. Ill see doc AND nutritionist) again before CR and see what they have to say. What about you? And will you fill out your stats? WOuld be cool to see your before and after and goals!

Best, ElisaBandida
