Shut down!

Just finished w/my PCP and she will NOT write me a letter of recommendation. States I will be miserable after! Unable to eat anything but 2 oz of food. I can shed the weight on my own. States my Dr told me I was a candidate because "he just wants to make $" ugh this is not good, not good

That is so not true, imho. I've lost almost 50 lbs and I eat well... I don't eat 2-4 oz of food. If I did, I would lose sooner. I do, however, walk a lot and that definitely gets the weight off. I love my lap band. It has changed my life!! I no longer have high blood pressure or glaucoma!! Your PCP is wrong, imho. This surgery helps a great deal. A lot of people have benefited from it. My sister in law has lost over 70 lbs. Find another doctor!!!

New doc STAT! Don't give up. You're worth it.

how utterly arrogant of your PCP i'm so gald you are already taking your life/fate in your own hands by finding some one else. best of luck the lapband has so so many positive impacts it is so worth it as are you

Just a thought but maybe your Gyn will write one for you?

Good luck!

Good luck to you. Too be so educated some drs are so stupid.

Amen to the above posts !!! He/she is sadly misinformed ! Reading the success stories here and other places will show you that there are many more success stories than there are failures. I eat more than 2 oz of food at one time, no more sleep apnea, im stronger, healthier and happier than ive been in along time ! Hopefully your new Dr. will be smarter and more knowledgeable than the last one ! Good luck !

Thanks. I'm at GYN right now, I'll ask...

Update: my GYN will not write a letter either. It's ok I will not get discouraged, I will keep trying

Good luck with the new PCP. Is the new PCP one that the surgeon's office recommended?

  • Author

Yes, so next month shld go as planned ????

Don't be discouraged. As long as you meet the criteria of BMI over 40 or over 35 with issues why should they not write you the letter? I had a totally new doctor refer me so perhaps you can post where you generally live and someone here can refer you to a more enlightened doctor!

It is perfect that you have changed your pcp. I would contact your insurance company and get all the Bariatric info you can get. I say that because when I had a different job I didn't know that they didn't have Bariatric benefits and I was waiting time getting apts and tests. I paid $10,0000 cash over 4 years ago and lost 96 lbs. Be smarter than your drs staff. It's your life and body. Best wishes.
