Sneezing an making a staple come out

Recommended Posts

Hey all - I'm 4 days post-op and everything has been fine except today when I had an unexpected very strong sneezing moment. I quickly pulled my pillow into my abdomen, but those sneezed hurt like crazy.

When it passed, I looked at my incisions and one staple had came out of one side. That particular incision has a lot of staples on both sides of the one that came out so I'm thinking this is going to be ok.

I will call docs office on Monday but in the meantime has anyone else did this?

Oh my, I sneeze like 3-4 times a day with my allergies. Sneezing a staple out isn't what I would like to do. Does it effect the staples inside you?

OUCH!!! Sneezing, caughing and laughing can hurt. Im 3 weeks out and the biggest hole still is tender to those things. Other than that I am healing up nicely. The scars will be minimal.

I don't think anything is "hurt" but the experience itself was 30 seconds of OUCH.

Be careful with sneezes. :)

Talked to doc today and they said no worries. :). They assured me the inside staples are fine.

By your screen name, it looks like you live in Ky? I'm also on Day 4 and in Ky. I'm sneezing like crazy and thinking with my allergies, it might have been prudent to have the surgery in the winter. I don't think I've lost a staple, but after reading your post, I'm going to take a closer look at mine!

I am - near lexington. You need a pillow to press into your abdomen when you cough or sneeze. It helps a great deal!

How are you feeling? Where was your surgery?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
